Classical music combined with metal
#1
Genres like symphonic metal that use classic instruments and melodies are becoming popular- like Apocalyptica or Nightwish - how do you guys feel about these different genres combining?

I can't say I care for Edenbridge. They seem like one of those Power Metal/Symphonic Metal bands which just sounds too dull, cheesy, cliched, and pop-like to me. Sorry.

But, I agree Sigh is great. I thought Sigh's incorporation of Mozart's Requiem into their album Hangman's Hymn was absolutely wonderful.

I'm also surprised no one's mentioned Yngwie Malmsteen. Here's a song by him I enjoy.

Some crossover bands I have discovered include Apocalyptica, who play metal songs on cellos, and Opeth, who have a lot of classically inspired music in their songs.
