Preclassic in character, very virtuoso. Polyphonic, allegro. But why don't you try more modern musical effects with the trumpet? It's good, really. There's nothing I say against it technically. Harmonically well-structured. But it doesn't sound NEW enough to me. I may be wrong. But you have the makings of a very good composer. Though it doesn't necessarily have to be new, unless you want it to sound new. Emulating styles of the past is totally cool. Though as a trumpet player, I have to say more modern techniques like flutter tongue are very fun to play. But it is NEVERTHELESS emulation of something which has already been done and brought to excellent saturation. If our composer here wants to sound like Torelli it is certainly his choice. I would prefer a try at originality. But as I said before, I may be subjectively wrong. But the guy is very promising. No doubt. |
