the origin of traffic music - miltk - 16-02-2013

i was just listening to a jazz piece called parisian thoroughfare, and of course the musicians, roach and brown, were putting the idea of traffic to music.

brown plays FOUR notes that everyone is familiar with. if i could notate it i would. you've heard it everywhere. it has become the default interpretation of car traffic,,,low hi low hi, with the hi's being the same note and the second low being lower than the first.

does anyone know how and when that became the standard passage for traffic?
