Performance Video (Heavy Prog Rock) - Feedback, please! - Nick Dilley - 08-12-2012 This is kind of an epic song, but if you have the patience and like heavy things with jazzy harmony, you might just be happy you checked it out! Anyway, my band and a few friends through this together this summer, and I'd love some feedback on the tune, performance, audio mix, or even the video itself. The mix is a bit off, but it's tough putting 4 vocals, a kit, a bass, and 3 guitars (well, eventually 4 by the end) together. Performance Video (Heavy Prog Rock) - Feedback, please! - R_burke - 08-12-2012 Not bad, but I don't like the mix on the drums, they sound to snappy (high pitched). The whole video has a higher pitch than I prefer, but the musicianship is there. Good luck to you guys Performance Video (Heavy Prog Rock) - Feedback, please! - SteveO - 08-12-2012 I like it !!!! ...my kind of music ! Keep up the great music, Nick and have fun with it !! Performance Video (Heavy Prog Rock) - Feedback, please! - Nick Dilley - 08-12-2012 Thanks guys! Yeah, the recording quality was a bit of a problem. We had such a wide variety of mics--some phenomenal, some crappy--and the drum sound definitely suffered from that. I actually do like the kick sound, though. Other than that, I think the bass and hooded guitarist's tones sound best. This was actually the first time we all played this together, too. So considering that, I'm pretty happy! Thanks for watching! Performance Video (Heavy Prog Rock) - Feedback, please! - Jerome - 16-01-2013 A suggestion - The kit is firmly in the middle of the stereo mix - even the ride cymbal - you need to make full use of the stereo spectrum - high hat at 9 oclock, ride at 2 oclock etc. Toms spread around.etc. A mic underneath the snare will give it more oomph. But a great effort nevertheless. RE: Performance Video (Heavy Prog Rock) - Feedback, please! - JeromeD - 04-09-2021 Oh yes the kit must be spread around the stereo spectrum, but from the drummers point of view i.e as if you were sitting behind the kit yourself. Even if you are a left-handed drummer pan the kit around as if it was a right-handed kit - that's the norm in recording studios. |
