The Cosmos Rocks by Queen is apparently the greatest album ever !!!! Amazing !!!! Wow !!! etc etc

On a more serious note, my fave album released so far this year has to be Evil Urges by My Morning Jacket.
Don't know if this is your cup of tea, but it's melodic rock that just works really well to my ears.

Check out Etran Finatawa. The touring and recording band consists of six players three of whom are Tuareg and three, Wodaabe-Fulani and they play a kind of "desertblues". They've already released two albums but I can't find the new one of 2008 so you may have to be satisfied with the album Introducing.

After reading many favourable reviews and getting a number of personal recommendations, I'm finally downloading this - Will it be good? - or will it crumble under the weight of massive expectations?!

It's pretty good actually. Thought it was old-fashioned (though not in a bad way). Sounded like a polished mixture of the Stones/Eagles/Eric Clapton and Bob Seger. I quite liked it but I think my husband would really love it (if I can get him to listen to it as he is usually prejudiced against anything I recommend for him!)
As regards new music recommendations - I really enjoyed Mindless Self Indulgence's new album 'If' (which should come as no surprise to any regular posters) - try that.
