Simple piano tune - Citizen_K - 02-06-2012 Can anyone identify this old tune? My mother used to play it during my childhood. I'm trying to identify it for years. She don't remember... Tried "Musipedia" and some other online engines - no help. Maybe here...? thanks in advance! Simple piano tune - Jerome - 03-06-2012 Citizen_K Wrote:Can anyone identify this old tune? Sorry I cannot recognize the piece. Is that you playing on the piano? Simple piano tune - Citizen_K - 03-06-2012 Jerome Wrote:Sorry I cannot recognize the piece. Is that you playing on the piano?Yes, I played it to the computer from my memory. Simple piano tune - Jerome - 03-06-2012 Are you a classically trained pianist or self-taught? Do you have any other pieces we could hear. Simple piano tune - Citizen_K - 03-06-2012 Jerome Wrote:Are you a classically trained pianist or self-taught? Do you have any other pieces we could hear. Yes, Here's a sketch I'm working on. I'm self-taught. A musician. I don't define myself a pianist. I use computers to compose and refine the playing quality. Thanks. Simple piano tune - Jerome - 03-06-2012 You're quite talented. I am assuming that you are playing a midi keyboard into the PC and using VST's to trigger the various sounds. Most of the sounds could pass as the real thing but the only one that 'sticks out' as being too computer-generated is the drums. Always the hardest part to get right. What sort of music do you like? Give us a few examples of artists or albums. A suggestion - try using a real drummer and you will find your tracks will come alive. There are plenty on the net to choose from but I would recommend Marc Norgaard. There's a link on my site on the 'credits' page if you are interested. Would like to hear some other stuff you are busy with. Simple piano tune - Citizen_K - 03-06-2012 Thanks Jerome. I'm flattered. But isn't it a musician forum in which almost everyone is relatively skilled? Actually I registered here to find out about this unknown tune... Like you assumed, the setup was a Yamaha weighted keyboard hooked to Protools HD with RTAS and TDM Plug-ins and Instruments. Of course it sounds computer-generated. especially the drums. That's why I said It's still a "Sketch". Eventually I will hire a real drummer. I enjoy stuff like Pat Metheny, Stevie Wonder, Chick Korea, Classic rock and some locals. I browsed your site. The artwork is amazing! (after all, you have a promissory last name...) Sadly I couldn't get to hear any audio (tried Mac And a PC with IE8 \ Chrome \ Safari) Any idea why? OK, per your request, here's another Sketch under development (You don't have to listen all the way) Regards, Koby. Simple piano tune - Jerome - 03-06-2012 You've got some damn good ideas. They just need to be polished a little and as I said a live drummer would make a hell of a difference. Marc would be perfect for this. He is a great drummer and I use him for all my tracks. He is also very easy to work with. By the way I could see your music being used in television as soundtracks for different programs. You should turn the sketches into the final paintings. Definitely marketable. I will send you a link to some of my stuff later today. Probably not your cup of tea but would be curious as to what you think. The reason I was asking all the questions is I was looking for someone who can handle piano tracks (real piano recorded in a pro studio). Are you in Tel Aviv? Oh yes, by the way, the reason you can't hear anything is that I am busy fiddling around with the site at the moment. If you land on the 'home' page in about an hour or so you will hear one of the tracks I am busy with. It will stream in the background. Might have some more stuff up tomorrow on the audio page. There are a number of members here who play different instruments, but the forum is more of a 'listening' site than one for musicians as such. There are a number of colourful characters here, each with their own likes and dislikes. We're an odd bunch but we're not boring! And I have to say my musical horizons have been broadened by suggestions made on this site. And I am always interested when I hear someone who has taken the time to write all the pieces and then play them all themselves. Many people do not realise the amount of work that goes into it when you are doing everything yourself. Finally, I am no relation to anyone in the Disney empire. Wish I was! Just a normal working stiff. Marc in action - http://youtu.be/3223tJHwSsc He is also an airline pilot. A seriously talented guy. Has his own CD out as well. He's damn good! quite impressive! I've noted his website. Simple piano tune - Mrrusty1 - 13-06-2012 thats great citizen k you are similar to me as i am basically self taught with a little bit of coaching here and there, I used to record multi track with my tascam 8 track recorder.. the drums are the hardest part to make real one thing i used to do was multi track the drum beats in real time playing the drum patches with my fingers on the keyboard.
