Putumayo Presents: Jazz around the world - centermez - 10-01-2012
This is a beautiful album.
If anybody is familiar with Putumayo, they'll know what a fantastic concept it is. It's a company that goes around the world, searching for examples of that genre in different countries. A friend of mine has almost every single CD they released and she gave me the "Jazz around the world" for christmas, knowing how much I love World Jazz. If you're looking for a good starting point with ANY genre- I would highly suggest a Putumayo CD, because it gives you such a global view on the way a genre can vary.
On the "Jazz around the World" CD, there are examples of Italian, japanese, spanish, french and a number of different nationalities' take on Jazz music.
I loved the album- Highly highly highly recommended.
