I couldn't find a thread dedicated to this awesomest of awesome bands so...

RADIOHEAD FANS UNITE!

Reasons why I love Radiohead:
1. They've been around for so long and they haven't sold out yet. In fact, they've gone indie. How freakin' sick is that.
2. They aren't afraid to take risks. Like the whole going indie thing. They turned down multi-million dollar deals so that they could stay true to their music. And the whole downloading In Rainbows for free thing.
3. They're musical chameleons. They're constantly experimenting. Compare all their albums and you'll realize none of them are the same. They've done it all: lite-grunge to acoustic to alternative to electronica/experimental to a delicate mixture of all.
4. They have no limits. All the instruments they use, especially in Kid A/Amnesiac...stunning.
5. What startles me more than their talent is how far they've come as a band. Try comparing Pablo Honey with In Rainbows. The difference is staggering.

...What a band.

Some questions to think about:
1. What's your favorite album?
Surprisingly, I am one of the few that actually prefer their electronica/experimental phase over their alternative-guitar rock phase. I've heard some accusations that it's "too wild/experimental" but in my opinion there is no such thing as too experimental. My personal favorite album is Kid A. The songs are all astonishingly different yet they flow seamlessly from one to the other, so it seems as if Kid A is just one 50 minute song with 10 parts. AMAZING. They'll never be able to top this, in my opinion. Anyone else agree?

2. Your favorite song off of In Rainbows?
I'm OBSESSED with Reckoner. I think it's one of their best songs ever. Besides that, I'm slightly partial to 15 Step and Jigsaw Falling Into Place.

Agree with most of the above !!

Concerning fave album, the first one that really caught my attention was OK Computer, and since I know it better than the others I'd have to say it's the best. Hail to The Thief is also a very strong record, as are The Bends, Kid A, Amnesiac (two parts of the same album IMV), In Rainbows, and even Pablo Honey contains a couple of star tracks.

In addition to the above reasons for them being almighty, the tour T-shirt I have is apparently made from 50% recycled bottle tops. Good green credentials there !!

Oh, and their LED lighting system is V groovy !!

I've been beating myself up for two weeks over missing them in Cleveland. The setlist looked amazing. Gah. Also, I never realized how fantastic Hail to the Theif is!

Radiohead. - idiotequeesque - 16-08-2008

Everything they do is fantastic.
Except for Pablo Honey, which is only okay. :]

Clearly 15 Step

Hail to the Thief is their weakest album.

YAY RADIOHEAD!
defenitley my #1 favorite band of all time, ever. ever.

1. My favorite album would probably have to be either OK Computer or even In Rainbows.
2. My favorite song off In Rainbows is a toss up between Reckoner and Videotape. But i love pretty much all of them!

--just btw/fyi favorite Radiohead SONG ever is Paranoid Android, or Idioteque. Defenitley best Radiohead VIDEO would have to be Karma Police.

Radiohead. - idiotequeesque - 24-08-2008

Some people have actually called Paranoid Android the Bohemian Rhapsody of the 90's... Some may say it's undeserved, but it just shows how powerful Radiohead's influence has been to rock music.

Can you all please stop making me feel bad about my entire lack of interest in Radiohead?

I love 'Creep' but I think that probably makes it even worse

- the lovefest can now continue..........

Radiohead. - idiotequeesque - 02-09-2008

Well if you aren't interested in Radiohead then you don't have to respond...but I strongly recommend that you check them out, and give their albums at least several listens. They're kind of an acquired taste.

And Creep is a decent song...
