Name a few of your favorite albums by Alice Cooper, Uriah Heep, Camel and Man ? - SteveO - 01-10-2011

I recently listened to Gryph's recommendation of Alice Cooper's Welcome 2 My Nightmare and thoroughly enjoyed it,,,thanks Gryph !

1. Alice Cooper was one of those groups that sort of passed me by - I have Billion Dollar Babies and the first Welcome to My Nightmare albums.

2. I am familiar with Uriah Heep and own The Magician's Birthday and Demons and Wizards.

3. Camel is a group I am totally blank on.

4. Man , a Welsh group is another one that I know nothing about.

I was wondering if the vastly educated MD members could enlighten me on the above four groups and perhaps list a few good albums by each group.

I can recommend a few things here

Camel are excellent and evolve well as you go through the albums

I think these three are worth a listen

Mirage by Camel................Lady Fantasy is a real gem

The Snow Goose is beautiful and if you can find the DVD of the program it was inspired by on a BBC video even better

Moonmadness is also excellent

You will find that Andy Latimer is an unsung guitar hero. This is gentle almost classical rock and very good for relaxation !

Man.............Try 20 ounces of plastic with a hole in the middle !

Uriah Heep is best started with Demons and Wizards ( Which has a great cover !) !

Alice Cooper.....................School's Out ( The Album ) , Billion Dollar Babies............The Excellent Welcome to my nightmare, Muscle of Love..........Check the first two

albums.......Killer and Love It To Death.............they are harder rock.

:biggrin:Cool

Was always a big Alice fan, favorites are Love It To Death, Schools Out, Billion Dollar Babies, Welcome To My Nightmare.
Like Heep but only have Demons and Wizards, The Magicians Birthday. One of those bands I regretfully dropped out on.
Camel, only have Rain Dances. Not big on them, but when I listen, they do make me want to light up.
Man, nothing from me

Camel's live album Pressure Points is very good.

With your liking for live albums, and your tastes, I feel confident recommending it.

Alice Cooper - I guarantee I am in the minority on this artist -I really enjoyed the early 80s stuff (most fans HATE this stuff) - I found the humour and hooks in these albums were undeniably catchy - "Zipper Catches Skin", "Dada", "Special Forces" & "Flush The Fashion"

Uriah Heep - Early material -"Salisbury", "Look at Yourself" and the two you mentioned / Middle material more metal than hard rock - "Abominog" & "Head First"

Camel - The three that Gryphon recommended are stellar (hugs him)

Man - I'm not familiar with them enough to recommend a specific album -the Prog Archives is a good way to see what others think and hear a few samples of the band - "Back Into The Future" & "Welsh Connection" look to be the crowd favourites http://www.progarchives.com/artist.asp?id=2380

Thanks to all so far for your recommendations and link !!!

I noticed the group Man while surfing music and they looked interesting with a fairly massive discography !

As for the others, besides Comus who only released one album but still play, these 3 groups are a major influence of Opeth !!!!...lol

Thought I would dig deeper to try to detect the relationship !

Thought the Snow Goose was inspired by Paul Galico's book of the same name?????
