Could you recommend some artists and or bands that employ vocals without lyrics ? - SteveO - 18-09-2011 During my exciting musical journey I have listened to several artists that use vocal singing without lyrics or words (called Vocalese , I believe). Groups like Dead Can Dance and Cocteau Twins are a couple of examples. There are also hundreds of new world, ambient, instrumental groups that use this effect. If I'm wrong, they're well worth checking out. They're an Icelandic Post-Rock band. I have their Agaetis Byrjun, ( ), & Takk albums, and they're all excellent. The vocals are in a made-up language, Hopelandic. Also, Bowie's song Subterraneans from the Low album is sung in gibberish... Could you recommend some artists and or bands that employ vocals without lyrics ? - Zero - 28-09-2011 Sigur Ros were already mentioned. Seefeel are another good example, most of their material is instrumental but they employ some dreamy-sounding wordless female vocals sometimes to great effect. A Sunny Day In Glasgow are another example, although I think a lot of their songs have actual lyrics you can't actually make them out.
