Rugby anyone ? - SteveO - 17-09-2011 IRELAND 15 AUSTRALIA 6 ....... great game...it's on at 4 am here in Canada (live in NZ... so needless to say I don't watch much of it !!!!!, even though I'm a big fan,,,,, not much padding in Rugby but lots in American football !). Rugby anyone ? - CRAZY-HORSE - 17-09-2011 US football players are steriod enhanced wimps wearing all that padding and helmets...its a joke IMO. Rugby and the Aussie code of football(AFL) are rougher and tougher by far back in the late 80s and early 90s Tina Turner was the ambassador for Rugby(not sure if it was league or union) here in Australia, said she in awe how those guys dont get injured as much as NFL players who wear padding. to answer your question, i dont follow rugby at all...cricket and soccer(real football) are my games of choice Rugby anyone ? - Tiggi - 18-09-2011 Don't know if it's live, but I'm currently watching France V Canada. Won't spoil it in case you haven't yet seen it, but Canada are performing well. Rugby anyone ? - Jerome - 18-09-2011 I am catching the odd game or two. Obviously behind SA but they seem a little disorganized at the moment. Still if they managed to pull off a 'hat trick' of world cups - that would be amazing - can't see it happening at the moment though. Rugby anyone ? - SteveO - 18-09-2011 don't say anything, please, Tiggi...it was 15 all when I dozed off at 5 am...lol Rugby anyone ? - SteveO - 18-09-2011 I like American NFL also but I always mention rugby and Australian No Rules Football to my buddies and they have no reply when I say it's tougher with no padding !!!!!...lol CRAZY-HORSE Wrote:US football players are steriod enhanced wimps wearing all that padding and helmets...its a joke IMO. Rugby anyone ? - SteveO - 18-09-2011 Yeah, J, the Springboks probably won't be there....I think the home team All Blacks have to be favored at this point...can't wait for Scotland vs England ...should be a real battle ...if I don't fall asleep...dam time zones !!!..lol Jerome Wrote:I am catching the odd game or two. Rugby anyone ? - Jerome - 18-09-2011 Did not even realise Canada played rugby but they have an impressive team. And Italy (yes Italy) might just cause an upset or two. A different team to what they once were. Rugby anyone ? - SteveO - 18-09-2011 Being a Commonwealth country we play rugby, soccer (football), cricket, etc.......we're just no good at it !!!....lol Hockey is our game but we do extremely well in the Summer and Winter Olympics for a country of 34 million...much like the Aussies...similar in sport achievements and in music !!!! Wow, Aussies win Tour de France and then Ladies US Open Tennis champion - Samantha Stosur !!!! Can't get to the FIFA World Cup because US and Mexico dominate and we can't crack that number three spot to qualify....only there once in 1986 in Mexico and it was a shambles, no wins three losses and no goals scored. Our rugby team has been on the rise in recent years !!!!! All the universities play rugby...both men and women !!!! Rugby anyone ? - gryphon - 18-09-2011 Is there a thread here?.....................Sports that one didn't realise that a country had a national team for or played well....... The Netherlands has a excellent cricket team! We also have a world class snooker referee |
