The Mars Volta - JesustheMexicanBoy - 19-07-2008 I believe they absolutely deserve their own thread. This is music, boys and girls. For anyone who hasn't listened to them, go buy De-Loused In The Comatorium or Amputechture right now. They are easily my favorite band. Omar Rodriguez-Lopez is a genius. I would also suggest you check out At The Drive-In and De Facto (previous bands). Omar's solo work is not quite as accessible as their other stuff, but is still very creative. They fuse multiple genres, such as jazz, latin, and prog rock. Listen to them. Please. Oh, yes. Check out One Day As A Lion's EP when it comes out July 22nd. It's a project Jon Theodore and Zack De La Rocha have been working on. Zechs Marquise- Marcel Rodriguez-Lopez's band... Free Moral Agents- Ikey Owens' band. There are some others, I am sure, but those are the ones I thought of. Golden- Jon Theodore's old band. Good day. The Mars Volta - trbc08 - 19-07-2008 Yeah, The Mars Volta are pretty amazing... Even if most fans won't give anything past De-Loused a chance. I'm going to see them in Atlanta in September... Huzzah! The Mars Volta - trbc08 - 20-07-2008 I listened to Bedlam in Goliath today and I finally "got" it. It's an amazing album. The Mars Volta - JesustheMexicanBoy - 21-07-2008 I downloaded a bootleg of the Volta show I went to in May. It's beautiful. I was in the front row, but right in front of Adrian's amp, so there was a lot I wasn't able to hear. That's cool you're going to that show in September. I would go down to Columbus, but we'll probably just get screwed for a third time. The Mars Volta - trbc08 - 22-07-2008 I honestly don't understand wanting to be at the very front... I mean I can understand being excited about being so close to the band, but it has been my experience that the sound is worst right at the front. Since I'm not going with any friends who'll want to pile to the front, I'll probably end up closer to the back. As long as I can see the band AND hear them, I'll be happy. The Mars Volta - JesustheMexicanBoy - 22-07-2008 I pretty much agree about the sound. I was with a big group of people. I think it was six or seven, so we decided to be in the front just so we could. The next Volta show I go to, I'll probably be up in the balcony if there is one. I heard the sound was perfect from up there. |
