My favourite lyrics - Jerome - 31-05-2011 Jokerman Standing on the waters casting your bread While the eyes of the idol with the iron head are glowing Distant ships sailing into the mist You were born with a snake in both of your fists while a hurricane was blowing Freedom just around the corner for you But with the truth so far off, what good will it do? Jokerman dance to the nightingale tune Bird fly high by the light of the moon Oh, oh, oh, Jokerman So swiftly the sun sets in the sky You rise up and say goodbye to no one Fools rush in where angels fear to tread Both of their futures, so full of dread, you donât show one Shedding off one more layer of skin Keeping one step ahead of the persecutor within Jokerman dance to the nightingale tune Bird fly high by the light of the moon Oh, oh, oh, Jokerman Youâre a man of the mountains, you can walk on the clouds Manipulator of crowds, youâre a dream twister Youâre going to Sodom and Gomorrah But what do you care? Ainât nobody there would want to marry your sister Friend to the martyr, a friend to the woman of shame You look into the fiery furnace, see the rich man without any name Jokerman dance to the nightingale tune Bird fly high by the light of the moon Oh, oh, oh, Jokerman Well, the Book of Leviticus and Deuteronomy The law of the jungle and the sea are your only teachers In the smoke of the twilight on a milk-white steed Michelangelo indeed couldâve carved out your features Resting in the fields, far from the turbulent space Half asleep near the stars with a small dog licking your face Jokerman dance to the nightingale tune Bird fly high by the light of the moon Oh, oh, oh, Jokerman Well, the riflemanâs stalking the sick and the lame Preacherman seeks the same, whoâll get there first is uncertain Nightsticks and water cannons, tear gas, padlocks Molotov cocktails and rocks behind every curtain False-hearted judges dying in the webs that they spin Only a matter of time âtil night comes steppinâ in Jokerman dance to the nightingale tune Bird fly high by the light of the moon Oh, oh, oh, Jokerman Itâs a shadowy world, skies are slippery grey A woman just gave birth to a prince today and dressed him in scarlet Heâll put the priest in his pocket, put the blade to the heat Take the motherless children off the street And place them at the feet of a harlot Oh, Jokerman, you know what he wants Oh, Jokerman, you donât show any response Jokerman dance to the nightingale tune Bird fly high by the light of the moon Oh, oh, oh, Jokerman My favourite lyrics - CRAZY-HORSE - 31-05-2011 those Dylan lyrics are brilliant Jerome...Man Of Peace & Union Sundown from the same album are also brilliant My favourite lyrics - Jerome - 17-06-2011 I agree - my favourite BD album by far. No but that ain't yer game, it ain't even yer race You can't hear yer name, you can't see yer face You gotta look some other place And where do you look for this hope that yer seekin' Where do you look for this lamp that's a-burnin' Where do you look for this oil well gushin' Where do you look for this candle that's glowin' Where do you look for this hope that you know is there And out there somewhere And your feet can only walk down two kinds of roads Your eyes can only look through two kinds of windows Your nose can only smell two kinds of hallways You can touch and twist And turn two kinds of doorknobs You can either go to the church of your choice Or you can go to Brooklyn State Hospital You'll find God in the church of your choice You'll find Woody Guthrie in Brooklyn State Hospital And though it's only my opinion I may be right or wrong You'll find them both In the Grand Canyon At sundown My favourite lyrics - clubrocker - 09-10-2011 Sometimes... I find God in music, or the lyrics of music. Dylan is one of my favorite writers because of his poetic lyrics and his genuine belief in what he sings about. My favourite lyrics - Jerome - 09-10-2011 clubrocker Wrote:Sometimes... I find God in music, or the lyrics of music. Could not have put it better myself. Listen to 'Man of Peace' by Uncle Bob. My favourite lyrics - anisha_astrologer - 19-10-2011 my favorite lyrics are bryan adams' everything i do and please forgive me. may be its his voice that makes the lyrics sound more wonderful. My favourite lyrics - diane21 - 03-04-2012 My favorite Songs Lyrics Happiness is a drug Happiness is a drug Happiness don`t pull the rug on Happiness has begun Happiness that`s never undone My favourite lyrics - mtthwibrahim - 03-04-2012 Joanna Nesom's "Only Skin"; http://www.songmeanings.net/songs/view/3530822107858550416/ Have the pleasures and pains of sex ever been expressed more vividly and beautifully? Really though, everything she's ever written has been a lyrical masterpiece. She could write about what she ate for dinner and make it into a wonderful lyrical tale full of allegory and symbolism. Easily my favorite lyricist of all time another one would be Isaac Brock from Modest Mouse, "Teeth Like God's Shoeshine" in particular; http://www.songmeanings.net/songs/view/32955/ Hell, there's too many lyricists I love to name. Sorry, Dylan isn't one of them |
