Itâs an ill wind that blows no good. Mrs Gryphon is recovering from pretty major reconstructive plastic surgery and has been sitting watching Dutch TV. Late morning TV in The Netherlands includes a coffee time show in which celebrities appear live usually to do a quick interview to promote some thing they are doing â¦â¦â¦â¦â¦â¦â¦â¦.This morning itâs ex Rolling Stone â¦..Bill Wymanâ¦â¦â¦â¦â¦Heâs on tour in Europe and is promoting his photographic skills , his band and his tourâ¦â¦â¦..After his interview Bill reappears to say that he will give five sets of tickets away to see The Rhythm Kings if views can answer an simple question about his past. Mrs Gryphon reads the question rings the number and answers , details are given and itâs just another part of a morningâ¦â¦â¦â¦â¦â¦â¦â¦â¦
Tuesdays in our house are Tuesdays, they always have been ; but today the phone rings â¦â¦â¦â¦â¦another B and B booking I think ?. Sounds like it â¦â¦â¦â¦â¦â¦â¦â¦â¦â¦â¦â¦.however it is not, it is a call to say that Mrs Gryphon has won two tickets to the venue of her choice to see Bill Wyman and his Rhythm kingsâ¦â¦.
Veldhoven near Eindhoven is the venues , itâs a cold and frosty night but there hangs in the air anticipation. Forty five minutes drive has brought us to a concert hall , which will hold about eight hundred or soâ¦.
A quick glance at the tour posters tell of special guests members of the band : Alan Price and Albert Leeâ¦â¦â¦â¦â¦so we are in for some vintage entertainment.
At quarter past eight the band take their places and we get the first glimpse of an ex Rolling Stone, resplendent with Red machine heedless bass , dark glasses and quiet âStoneâ like image. The band numbers seven at this point and Bill climbs to the mike and says âGood eveningâ â¦â¦..He tells that he is delighted o e in The Netherlands ad a little sad hat his guitarist is illâ¦â¦..but he has arranged a replacementâ¦â¦â¦â¦â¦..his old friend â¦â¦â¦â¦â¦â¦.Andy Fairweather Loweâ¦â¦â¦..
âIâve Got a Womanâ starts the set and we have two and a half hours of shear enjoyment. Oldies , Blues, and Rock and Roll.
Near the end Bill reminds us that he was in a band once â¦â¦â¦â¦â¦and launches into â Honky Tony Womenâ â¦â¦â¦â¦â¦â¦â¦..The roof comes in â¦â¦â¦â¦â¦â¦
All too soon it is over despite two encoresâ¦â¦â¦â¦â¦â¦â¦
The stages starts to empty but Bill has not leftâ¦â¦â¦â¦â¦â¦â¦â¦â¦â¦He is still there at the left of he stage.
I have talked with quite a few fellow members of MD who wonder how it is that hey never seem to get near a starâ¦â¦â¦â¦â¦â¦â¦..
So I walk over to the crowd at he front left, Bill has suggested that he enjoyed he night and that , he liked the atmosphereâ¦â¦â¦â¦â¦..Iâve got he ticket stub and Bill has a felt pen, a couple of exchanges and I have the ticket autographed â¦â¦â¦â¦â¦not many others didâ¦â¦â¦â¦â¦â¦.. He who dares winsâ¦â¦..
