Breaking In - El Candelon - 05-10-2010 Hey; I plan to move to Miami in June to break in as a singer/songwriter/dancer of Latin Caribbean music. I would like to know: 1) Should I represent myself? I'm a good businessman. 2) How does one break into the club scene? Never done this before ![]() 3) Are there any good resources for searching out the club scene in advance, communicating with other artists in the area? 4) Are there any good resources for the business side of show biz? Thanks, El Candelon Breaking In - Jerome - 10-10-2010 Don't mean to be sarcastic but if you are a good businessman you should have the answers to all the questions you have asked. Breaking In - El Candelon - 10-10-2010 That reminds me of the old joke about the classified ad for psychics..."you know where to apply." My career has been in media and the Internet. I fail to see how that would help me answer the following questions: 1) How does one break into the club scene? Never done this before ![]() 2) Are there any good resources for searching out the club scene in advance, communicating with other artists in the area? 3) Are there any good resources for the business side of show biz? You might think it might help me with this question: 4) Should I represent myself? I'm a good businessman. but that's only because you don't understand business. I hope someone in this forum will be kind enough to answer my questions for me. Thanks, El Candelon Breaking In - gryphon - 10-10-2010 Let me give you some good advice.............it comes from a successful situation of having started and completed several start up businesses and projects. In 30 seconds I can tell you that you ain't ready to start anything !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and that is from the approach you are using. If you are going to start something then go away and do your homework.............Draw up an action plan which is going to take you from where you are now to a position where you are really confident and sure that you are going to succeed....................So, pose all the important questions about what you are going to do .......then put together a plan of how YOU are going to get those answers...................Then get them.......but YOU get them................when you can and are sure of the answers then you stand a chance of success and you will have demonstrated that you have the motivation..............................No one is ever going to answer the question you ask because they can tell from your approach that at the moment you have not got he motivation to succeed YOU want someone else to do it for you and life ain't like that ..................... |
