Steely Dan Best Album Poll - 1 of 1 - Tiggi - 20-03-2010 Very difficult choice. It was a close run thing between the first four & Aja, but Pretzel Logic wins out. In fact The Royal Scam is a favourite as well because of my fave SD song Haitian Divorce Steely Dan Best Album Poll - 1 of 1 - Music Head - 23-03-2010 Rose Darling, it sure was a Black Friday when you told me that your Daddy Don't Live In That New York City No More, because I knew that in Any World (That I'm Welcome To) I would still be going to see Doctor Wu, adorned with his Bad Sneakers that are decorated with those ridiculous emblems of Chain Lightning, when he goes fishing and says he will Throw Back The Little Ones, even though he knows that Everyone's Gone To The Movies to see the latest sequel, Your Gold Teeth II. Steely Dan Best Album Poll - 1 of 1 - faaipdeoaid - 25-03-2010 Danny Baker often cites Can't buy a Thrill as the greatest album of all time, however Katy Lied beats it into a cocked hat, and whenever I'm feeling low Gold Teeth II, Chain Lightning, and Anyworld are a perfect contiguous trio and always lifts the spirits I have maybe 8 or 9 perfect albums, Katy Lied is one of them Steely Dan Best Album Poll - 1 of 1 - Music Head - 23-04-2010 :bump2:..... Steely Dan Best Album Poll - 1 of 1 - Jerome - 10-09-2014 Can anybody tell me which album 'Here at the Western World' comes from? It is included in their 'Greatest Hits' album. Steely Dan Best Album Poll - 1 of 1 - CRAZY-HORSE - 12-09-2014 that song you mentioned Jerome....was an outtake from 76-77 so it was never on a studio album, i believe it appears on several of their compilation albums though... as for where they they got their name from....i have no idea, sorry Steely Dan Best Album Poll - 1 of 1 - Jerome - 12-09-2014 CRAZY-HORSE Wrote:that song you mentioned Jerome....was an outtake from 76-77 so it was never on a studio album, i believe it appears on several of their compilation albums though... Oh I know where they got their name - I find it quite amusing.............. 'After realizing that their songs were too complex for other ABC artists, at Katz's suggestion Becker and Fagen formed their own band with guitarists Denny Dias and Jeff "Skunk" Baxter, drummer Jim Hodder and singer David Palmer, and Katz signed them to ABC as recording artists. Fans of Beat Generation literature, Fagen and Becker named the band after "Steely Dan III from Yokohama", a strap-on dildo mentioned in the William S. Burroughs novel Naked Lunch.[SUP][21][/SUP][SUP][22][/SUP] Palmer joined as a second lead vocalist because of Fagen's reluctance to sing in front of an audience and because the label believed that his voice was not "commercial" enough. Fagen then lacked confidence in his voice and occasionally suffered from stage fright.' |
