Pleased to meet you - static1812 - 18-01-2010

Good Afternoon.

I’m an unskilled mandolin and guitar player and music enthusiast based in the dank and flat East of England.

Music wise it’s generally guitar based slightly out of date indie for me. I’ve not really moved on since obsessing about The Wedding Present, The Pixies and The Fall at university. Recent releases that have caught my fancy have come from The Cribs and Decoration.

I have an dangerous folk leaning on occasions, and love the punky folk outpourings of The Ukrainians.

Wondering if there would be any interest in a ‘cover version’ challenge amongst the other musicians on the forum, maybe pick a song a month and see what everyone can come up with?

Hi and welcome to MD! I guess that although you come from the flat East of England you don't quite come from as flat a land as I live in!Cool

Hi Static, & welcome to MD.

Good tastes, but in need of updating. You've come to the right place...

Hope you enjoy the site.

Welcome to our home.

Thanks a lot.
Now I got that stupid song in my head.
Elton John, You're So Static.
I like the horns at the end, but that's about it.
Gotta listen to something else now.
Aha, some ELO handy.

Ha - I'm sure that's true.

Where are you based? I'm a big fan of Leiden, I drive to Germany a few time a year and often stop there (theoretically for a break but really becasue it's a good place to eat and drink)

Saw my beloved Wedding Present in Amsterdam - must have been back in 2004 when their come back was in its infancy.

On the Dutch theme I've seen Persil as support act a few times. Their latest track is toss in my opinion but I like the first album. I think that's the only Ducth band I've seen (never saw Van Halen ConfusedmileSmile.

Hi Static1812

I live right in the bottom of the Netherlands just 25 km north of Maastricht.

We enjoy a really European lifestyle here , I border Germany and so I am near to Aachen and also I live right on the boarders of Belgium.

The Netherlands has a strong musical tradition and is blessed.......One of Europe's biggest outdoor pop festivals is sighted just down the road from me. It is Pinkpop
and as such I get a great opportunity to see plenty of live actsCool

You live near Maastricht. I know a Violin dealer there.

I do not know of the violin dealer but we do have a very famous Maastricher with a violin. Maaastricht is the home of Andre Rieu !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Cool
