UK TOP 100 SUMMARY & REVIEW 24.01.25 #17 - Mellope - 25-01-2025 UK TOP 100 SUMMARY & REVIEW 24.01.25 #17 THE TOP TEN: At 10, Gaga and Bruno's 'Die With A Smile' has a notable sales drop, and so does Myles Smith at 9 with 'Nice To Meet You.' Teddy has a small sales drop at 8 with 'The Door' and 'Who' by Jimin bounces back to the top ten at 7. Central Cee and 21 Savage's new rap collab 'GBP' has a strong week at 6. Gigi has a loss of sales at 5, while Chrystal gains 3000+ sales at 4. Gracie Abrams has a huge loss in sales, which catapults her to 3 and gives ROSÉ and Bruno a chance to overtake her as they stay at 2 with 'APT.' and defy the odds and jump up two spots to take her first number one week is 'Messy' by Lola Young! NEW ENTRIES: 99. Craving 4 U - Bl3ss/Camrinwatson/Bbyclose (4.5/10) Previous first listen: This feels very weak and doesn't have the deepness and beat changes like their collab on 'Kisses.' It just feels like a cheap second song to try and get another hit, which isn't going to work. Second listen: I've still got the exact same opinion. 77. Redemption - Kidwild/Nemzzz (5/10) Featuring on an E.P. by Kidwild 'Redemption' is a UK rap song that talks about getting rich and fake friends; it really feels like there was no effort here to separate this from any other rap song, but if they were aiming for this sound naturally rather than making a difference I'm just going to have to say it's alright; the unapologetic rap verses and style with the synth are enough to make something, but it doesn't go the extra mile. 61. Raving in the studio - Aitch & Bou (7.5/10) The duo I never knew I needed! Sampling Gorillaz's 'Feel Good Inc' on the Drum N Bass X Rap song, this turns out to be a club banger! I honestly wish this charted higher; this isn't your usual drum and bass. Its high-octane energy is meant for radio, clubs, and celebrations! Truly a fun listen and a recommendation from me; check it out! 6. GBP - Central Cee/21 Savage (5/10) Tough British street rap returns, and I’m not really complaining. They both rap well together and have no trouble making a beat. The problem here is that everything just sounds as dull as can be. It's not something new from them; it features reused verses, the vocals feel too familiar, and it's lacking impact. The production is also basic—not bad, just simple. I can respect the Lyrical Lemonade video, though, because those shots were fire. But this track misses the mark and doesn't leave me eagerly awaiting Central Cee's upcoming album. REENTRIES: 95. Cruel Summer - Taylor Swift [Not again... not another year of this song.] NOTEWORTHY CHANGES: Songs that climbed over 10 spots: 88. Take Me To Church - Hozier (Up 12) 78. Iris - Goo Goo Dolls (Up 13) 64. Real Man - Beabadoobee (Up 28) [HIGHEST CLIMBER] 26. DTMF - Bad Bunny (Up 19) Songs that fell over 10 spots: 86. Smile - Morgan Wallen (Down 12) 85. Ma Meillure Ennemie - Stromae/Pomme (Down 12) 82. Peggy - Ceechynaa (Down 10) 76. Love Somebody - Morgan Wallen (Down 15) 45. I Always Wanted A Brother - Braelyn Rankins/Theo Somolu (Down 11) 31. Taste - Sabrina Carpenter (Down 12) BEST AND WORST: NEW entries: BEST—Raving in the studio—Aitch & Bou WORST - Craving 4 u - Bl3ss/Camrinwatson/Bbyclose The whole top 100: BEST - The Door - Teddy Swims WORST - Peggy - Ceechynaa NEXT WEEK'S PREDICTIONS: NEW albums from Central Cee, Teddy Swims, and FKA Twigs could make new entries, and since there are so many new entries to mention, you can check my write-up on it for a bigger list! |
