time for a short break - CRAZY-HORSE - 23-04-2023

hey peeps,

i may take a break from MD after tuesday or wednesday for a short while as i declutter my hectic life with work and issues with my elderly parents as they take a noticable toll on my overall wellbeing.
it doesnt mean i wont post, it just means not as much as i have been.

i have already got rid of Facebook over this last week or so and i intend unplugging technology as much as i am able to do (and this includes my cell phone and laptop).

dont stress or think the worse i just need to recharge my batteries and reset my true north.

i ended up getting rid of my cell phone but life is so difficult without one as you need one for just about everything, but i will persist as long as i can without too many disruptions to my life.

i have also moved house and decluttered my personal life, so far so good!

facebook, still deactivated at this stage but i still have messenger.

still not fully back on the forum as you guys can see by my minimalist postings but will gradually get back to normal soon enough...

Unfortunately we have to have these stupid bloody phones for just about everything. Every business, government department, bank etc. etc. want two-step verification for everything these days. These codes that they send to your phone to get access to anything is a complete waste of time because as we all well know phones are THE most vulnerable electronic devices of all. They need your phone numbers so that they can sell this data to data mining companies. And they are making a fortune doing it - without your consent no less. As for social media I now avoid it like the plague it is. My life is a lot less cluttered without it and I don't have to think about what to say to whoever about whatever. I find since I have gotten rid of all social media I have far more time on my hands. As for my phone, I switch it on in the morning - check for messages and then turn it off for the rest of the day. In the evening, I do the same - turn it on - check for messages - turn it off 5 minutes later. I don't even have voicemail activated. If you want to get hold of me send me a text. If you don't, you won't. The only site I have any conversations on is this one. One is enough. Don't need anymore than that. I never carry my phone around with me during the day - it stays in my laptop bag. I am constantly amazed by work colleagues who cannot stop checking their phones every 10 minutes in case they miss something. Some people are going to wake up one day and find life has passed them by while they were constantly checking their phones for the latest gossip or scandal. A complete waste of time. People on vacation never cease to amaze me. They could be in a fantastic place with plenty of things to see and do, but they choose to spend their day in the bar or at the pool constantly glued to their phones to watch and read about what other people are doing with their lives. The whole thing has gotten totally out of control. It's a disease. A very addictive one too.

wish I had your commitment

^^^ I wish I had your job! No phone = no income in my instance, but I do agree that boundaries can be set and I refuse to acknowledge messages or answer calls outside of certain hours - the planet will continue to spin after all, miraculously! Must say, I am constantly confounded by the inconsideration of fellow humans!! Good manners have went.

Just hit the 'off' switch. It's that simple.
