christmas song royalties - CRAZY-HORSE - 03-12-2022

just read an article from the UK as to how much money artists make from their Yuletide tunes in the UK and the numbers are quite impressive yet mindboggling all the same:

the article:  Christmas song royalties: How much do Wham!, Mariah Carey and The Pogues earn every year? (msn.com)

but if you dont want to read it these are the ten biggest money earners int he UK annually.

as a footnote i was surprised to not see Roy Wood & Wizzard's "i wish it could be Christmas everyday" song not in the top 10 as i would have bet money it would be up there with Slade.

  1. “Merry Xmas Everybody” by Slade £1m (in royalties per year)

  2. “Fairytale of New York” by The Pogues and Kirsty MacColl £400,000

  3. “All I Want for Christmas is You” by Mariah Carey £400,000

  4. “White Christmas” by Bing Crosby £328,000

  5. “Last Christmas” by Wham! £300,000

  6. “Wonderful Christmastime” by Paul McCartney £260,000

  7.  “Stop the Cavalry” by Jona Lewie £120,000

  8. “2000 Miles” by The Pretenders £102,000

  9. “Mistletoe and Wine” by Cliff Richard £100,000

  10. “Stay Another Day” by East 17 £97,000

^Pretty certain Chris Rea should be on that list, with "Driving Home for Christmas". That song receives extensive airplay as far as I'm aware!
