1970s artists in the UK charts... - CRAZY-HORSE - 11-12-2021
as im looking through the UK albums charts for this week i noticed a hell of a lot of artists who were big in the 1970s either have re-issue albums, compilations, live or new albums in the top 40 this week.
so to make it easy here is a list of those and the current chart positions they hold on 10th December 2021:
(there are 12 in all)
#2: ABBA - voyage
#7: ROD STEWART - the tears of hercules
#8: ELTON JOHN - the lockdown sessions
#10: ROBERT PLANT (and alison krauss) - raising the roof
#20: BEATLES - let it be
#21: QUEEN - greatest hits
#24: MOTOWN (artists with LPO) - a symphony of soul
#25: FLEETWOOD MAC - rumours
#26: ABBA - gold: the greatest hits
#32: STING - the bridge
#37: BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN - the legendary no nukes '79 concert
#40: DIANA ROSS - thank you
further down the charts we have:
Can - German experimental folk group who released 10 studio albums in that decade)
Bob Marley
Tom Jones
David Bowie
Deep Purple
The Doors
Tony Bennett
AC/DC
plus other entries by Beatles, Elton John and ABBA.
so that works out 23 albums/artists in the UK top 100 were from the 1970s !!!!!
