he made an album with Pnau three maybe four years ago, hideous electro-pop stuff...
to be honest this may bring him a younger generation of new fans becuase my stepdaughter, Krystl, hadnt really heard many Elton songs,
she loves this remix and has since listened to Elton on my ipod and is now a fan.
so i guess there is a method in what appears to be Elton's madness!
the track above is getting lots of airplay here on the new pop-gen stations and the golden oldies stations also.

I read Elton's biography many moons ago. A lot of people don't realise that 'Sacrifice' was Elton's first No 1 hit in the UK. He was immensely proud of that achievement since it had eluded him for so long. Now to go and cut up the song and do an inferior remix seems to me to be selling out. I am a firm believer that once a song has been created it should be kept that way. When a painter paints a portrait he does not want someone coming along and drawing all over it.

yes you are correct Jerome, Sacrifice was his first solo #1 in his homeland.
his second and final UK #1 hit was "candle in the wind '97", a re-recording of the obvious classic of the same name.
"dont go breakin' my heart" with Kiki Dee also hit #1 but it is deemed to be a duet and not a true solo #1.
