NEW ALBUM 2020: Cornershop "england is a garden" - CRAZY-HORSE - 06-12-2020 Spotify listen: another one i'd missed but crops up on a couple of "EOY best lists" released back in March. UK alt/indi-pop band. eighth album but ive never heard of them??. hearing lots of influences from T-Rex (im a wooden soldier), Stones (no rock save in roll), Nick Drake (england is a garden-instrumental), psychedelic pop, hints of Weller from his Wildwood pastoral sounds, maybe some Ten Years After/Small Faces in places. some interesting intrument choices for a newish band also, apart from the usual theres: sitar, hammond-B organ, flute, tamboura, and some backwards guitar, so maybe a slight Beatle sound in places also. a very, very good album IMO MH you should listen to this one if you want to get away from your rap-crap for a day. there may even be enough here to hold Ruby's attention. im a wooden soldier:    I'm A Wooden Soldier - YouTube  audio                                                           the Holy name:     Cornershop 'The Holy Name' ample play records - YouTube  audio                                                                           england is a garden (instrumental): Cornershop 'England Is A Garden' OFFICIAL VIDEO ample play records - YouTube  audio                                                                 no rock save in roll:   Cornershop - No Rock: Save In Roll (OFFICIAL VIDEO) - YouTube  video                                                  and my favourite: ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ not on the album but i found a couple of other tracks: their Hindu vocal version of Beatles "norwegian wood"  Cornershop perform Norwegian Wood by the Beatles - YouTube   live and the only hit they ever had, a UK #1 back in 1997:  Cornershop - Brimful Of Asha (Live Jools Holland 1997) - YouTube  live RE: NEW ALBUM 2020: Cornershop "england is a garden" - SteveO - 13-12-2020 ^ Very good !
