NEW ALBUM: JAKKO JAKSZYK ~ Secrets and Lies - Ruby - 01-11-2020 JAKKO JAKSZYK ~ Secrets and Lies Was hoping this would go down well, but sadly, it got stuck – couldn’t get into it. All over the place not knowing who or what it wants to be – or maybe that’s a mirror image reflecting back at me, lol! It’s well executed, make no error, and there are a couple of tracks that I liked, but on the whole it left me cold – no feel, no 'personality', and therein lies the deciding factor which is probably not fair as it’s totally subjective. Sociopolitical commentary of course, most of which went over my head – I generally hear the music first and then on a second or third listen will acquaint myself with the lyrics, unless they made an impact to begin with. May have sociopolitical fatigue as no interest at all in going back to find out exactly what it’s all about! Rock of allsorts – some noteworthy personnel – Mel Collins, for one, Tony Levin another. It's not a terrible album, just not terribly interesting - maybe that's what it is. The tracks I most liked are the two ‘singles’ that were released prior to the album launch, and this instrumental written by his daughter which I didn’t know until after listening.  RE: NEW ALBUM: JAKKO JAKSZYK ~ Secrets and Lies - CRAZY-HORSE - 02-11-2020 I tried too Ruby, Ended up skimming over the tracks because nothing got me hooked.
