NEW ALBUM: BLUE ÖYSTER CULT ~ The Symbol Remains - Ruby - 09-10-2020 BLUE ÖYSTER CULT ~ The Symbol Remains Looks like 70-something is the new 40? A bunch of septuagenarians now, BOC is back, complete with plenty of cowbell, and they are rockin’ hard – tempted to use a much cruder turn of phrase, but will resist! Loads of bash crash - unadulterated driving rock – something about it makes me smile and there's nothing like a good loud album to blast away the cobwebs! On the other hand, one hour and one minute of it might be just a smidge too much - could’ve done with a strategic pruning IMHO.   It’s classic BOC, not a lot more to say. I’m not enough of an afficionado to know whether any of these are rehashes, which I expect they might be; some songs are better than others, some are filler and some are a bit nasty (not in a good way) – found the second half tiring, aside from the last track.
