Rolling Stone's 100 greatest debut singles: - CRAZY-HORSE - 22-05-2020 there are several so-called 'music bibles' IMO, "uncut", "Q", "record collector" and of course "rolling stone" and while I respect these publications with their music knowledge and unbiased reviews etc I often disagree with their "best of..." lists (like we all do probably) but theyre interesting reads anyway. so, Rolling Stone has just come up with a list of the 100 Greatest Debut Singles Of All Time and there are a few eyebrow raisers in the list. it seems they rate "-------------------" as the grestest debut of all time, LOL, you'll have to click on the link to see it, but IMO it is a controversial selection (maybe that was the idea as putting Beatles, Stones, Kinks, Elvis etc at the top would be too predictable), you decide! the link: https://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/fb-8338435/Rolling-Stones-100-Greatest-Debut-Singles-Time.html RE: Rolling Stone's 100 greatest debut singles: - Ruby - 22-05-2020 Wonder what criteria were used, if any! RE: Rolling Stone's 100 greatest debut singles: - SteveO - 22-05-2020 I looked at the Top 20 and my browser slowed down to a trickle. I am wondering if the list is indeed their debut single ! Was Take It Easy the debut for the Eagles ? It appears that the young guns at Rolling Stone are fed up with classic rock ! RE: Rolling Stone's 100 greatest debut singles: - CRAZY-HORSE - 23-05-2020 ^^ I checked on Wiki, Take It Easy appears to have most certainly have been their debut single. but its okay because I didn't think Hand In Glove was The Smiths debut single (woulda laid money down on it being This Charming Man) |
