NEW ALBUM: The Clientele - Music for the Age of Miracles - Ruby - 28-09-2017 THE CLIENTELE ~ Music for the Age of Miracles   It’s a long time since I listened to a new ‘pop’ album and enjoyed it. This band is pegged as either alt pop, indie pop or indie rock, and this release is all rather pleasantly warm and fuzzy, lol! Whatever it is, it’s kinda enchanting and there are some simply lovely strings (including a harp - fairly unusual) which always does it for me; an undemanding yet enjoyable listen that sweeps you up very gently and carries you along on a mildly lapping series of sonic waves. That said, there does appear to be a bit of meat on the bones and they sound to me like refreshingly competent musicians who really enjoy what they are doing and understand their direction. There seem to be a few subtle nods to the Beatles now and then, but that may be unwitting and is not at all surprising given the Fab Four's reach.   They are probably not going to set the world on fire – far too laidback for that – but it was quite nice to hear something completely different and it might actually grow on me!! I suspect I’ll notice different things the second time around …    “Everything You See Tonight is Different From Itself” …  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zfZXPC5pb9E   “Lunar Days” …
