Coming up to the 50th anniversary of Sgt Pepper.
It's been said by many people that this album changed forever the nature of the album, making the album itself the work of art, rather than just a collection of singles plus filler. I used to agree with this. Sadly I think the word "forever" no longer applies, even in the figurative sense. We seem to be now in the days of an artist having one or two massive hits courtesy of Youtube, and marketing an album on the strength of those hits.
