Hi. I'm thinking of buying a Roland SP-404SX to use with my Epiphone SG and standard audio mixer and speakers. But I'm not sure if I'll be able to connect the sampler to my PA system. Please help.

I will need a lot more information than that before I can help. What are you trying to achieve. These days there is very little that cannot be done with regards to interconnectivity of various devices.

I am trying to connect my guitar into the 'input' of the sampler and my PA into the 'output'. But I was wondering what kind of jack(s) were on the sampler?

Can you post some pictures of the connections on the back and front of the equipment you are talking about? I will have a look on the net as well. The input on the front (of the Roland) is for a mono mic signal. A guitar normally uses a high-impedance input jack which this unit does not seen to have on the front but you can still get a signal into the unit from a guitar using this connection - it's just not well matched to the unit. In other words the input is designed for microphones not guitars but it is still possible to record your guitar into the sampler. You can also get an adapter that will convert your guitar lead into a split RCA cable (the input at the back of the unit - one cable for the left and one cable for the right of the 'stereo' signal). The RCA outputs at the back should be able to connect to any PA system. What type of PA system do you have? Also I need to know if you are recording to a PC/DAW - i.e. what do you want the end result to be. Do you want your guitar recorded along with the sampler played through your mixer/PA?
I think what you need is a cable that will convert a normal guitar signal ( the cable from your guitar) to the two input (RCA connections) at the back of your sampler. This is what is known as a 'line level' input.

Yes, but only if the output jack on your guitar is stereo. If it is mono you need to get a cable with a mono jack that is split into 2 RCA connectors. But you are on the right track - that's what you have to do.

Something else to consider - an extremely powerful little unit - can be used as a drum machine, a guitar effects unit and a mini mixer/recorder. I use this unit purely for a certain type of guitar effect. This can be heard right at the end of the track on the page below. You can generate some amazing guitar sounds with this unit.
