So, I saw this 2016 album mentioned in the new releases thread, but only in name, without any other details, and I haven't found a dedicated thread yet for this album, so here it is.

This album from the ex-Emperor vocalist/guitarist is some great progressive metal with bits of black metal, heavy metal, rock, and jazz thrown in. The whole album is strong but some notable tracks include Disassembled, Mass Darkness, South Winds, Pressure, and Celestial Violence, though as said before, it's all good, really.

This was my first venture into Ihsahn's solo work, and it's gotten me very interested in checking out the rest of his stuff. I'm glad to have bought it on a whim by name recognition. Definitely worth checking out, everyone!

Yeah, Arktis is the first Ihsahn album I checked out. It has grown on me including the harsh vocals which I didn't originally care for that much. I think the album is pretty good. Celestial Violence is one of my favorite tracks on it.

Also, saxophones make everything better.

I agree, and so I'm wondering if you like and have heard of the avant-garde metal band called Sigh? Their album In Somniphobia is probably the most sax laden album of theirs, so check it out when you have a chance if you haven't already.

Yep, I've heard of Sigh and listen to Imaginary Sonicscape sometimes, but I haven't heard In Somniphobia. I will fix that problem and check it out.

I'm a big fan of all of Sigh's albums, but In Somniphobia like Imaginary Sonicscape and Hail Horror Hail stick out above the rest of their discography to me. So, since you like Imaginary Soncscape I'm sure you'll like In Somniphobia. It's more jazzy and prog rock influenced than Imaginary's more psychedelic approach, but it works just as well in my opinion.

It sounds interesting so it's on my to-listen-to list now. More sax is always a great thing in my book.
