U2 News - Music Head - 29-09-2009 from rolling stone Two days after U2 broke the attendance record at New Jerseyâs Giants Stadium, Bono and Co. performed to an television audience of millions as they served as the musical guest on the season premiere of Saturday Night Live. The band performed three songs, a rarity for the live comedy sketch show, plus a fourth track for the studio audience after the end credits rolled. The episode was also noteworthy for its host â Rolling Stone cover girl Megan Fox â and an inadvertent in-skit âF-bombâ by new cast member Jenny Slate. Surprisingly, U2 navigated away from their hits and No Line singles for their performance. As theyâve done with the majority of shows on the U.S. leg of their 360° Tour, they opened up their SNL performance with No Line on the Horizonâs penultimate track âBreathe.â Next up was No Lineâs âMoment of Surrender.â As the end credits rolled, U2 performed a song thatâs frequently been among the encores during the 360° Tour, Achtung Babyâs âUltraviolet (Light My Way),â complete with Bonoâs laser-jacket and dangling fluorescent microphone. When the cameras were turned off, the studio audience was then treated to âWith Or Without You.â Next week, SNL will welcome Lady Gaga to the stage. In other U2 news, the bandâs official Website revealed the bonus disc track list for The Unforgettable Fireâs reissue, due out October 27th. As Rolling Stone previously reported, the bonus disc will feature two unreleased songs from the bandâs 1984 Slane Castle sessions: âYoshino Blossomâ and âDisappearing Act,â which the band recently completed. The reissueâs DVD Collection will feature four music videos from the era, plus the documentary The Making of the Unforgettable Fire and footage from the bandâs 1985 Live Aid and A Conspiracy Of Hope Concert performances. The Unforgettable Fire bonus disc: âDisappearing Actâ âA Sort of Homecoming (live)â âBad (live)â âLove Comes Tumblingâ âThe Three Sunrisesâ âYoshino Blossomâ âWire (Kervorkian Remix)â âBoomerang Iâ âPride (In The Name of Love)â âA Sort of Homecomingâ â11 OâClock Tick Tockâ âWire (Celtic Dub Mix)â âBasa Trapâ âBoomerang IIâ â4th of Julyâ âSixty Seconds in Kingdom Comeâ |
