you ain't so hot either - oldies65 - 01-07-2015 actors aren't the only ones who fued, singers do too...ethel waters-billie holliday...james brown-Wilson pickett...Wilson pickett- percy sledge...eddie kendricks-Melvin franklin...billy ward-clyde mcphatter. you ain't so hot either - jazzboCR - 02-07-2015 It appears that Mr. Pickett was fueled by feud. I knew about the others but Billy Ward/Clyde McPhatter was news...though it should not have been--see para. 4 & 5 in this Wiki: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Billy_Ward_and_his_Dominoes you ain't so hot either - oldies65 - 02-07-2015 legend has it that billy was a hard taskmaster and clyde wasn't having it, so billy fired him. you ain't so hot either - CRAZY-HORSE - 02-07-2015 I'm pretty sure no one was as hard a taskmaster as Ian Anderson with Jethro Tull....he demanded perfection in playing and I read somewhere once that anyone who played with him could basically name their own price when working with other artists because who they worked with after JT/IA knew they'd get perfection out of than so.... There's nothing wrong with being a perfectionist in your occupational field, its all about setting standards and maintaining them. you ain't so hot either - SteveO - 03-07-2015 Paul has always been a perfectionist from The Beatles right up to his current touring band! you ain't so hot either - CRAZY-HORSE - 03-07-2015 I have to disagree with you SteveO.... By his own admissions he has released a lot of half finished songs because he couldn't be bothered adding final touches to them. Also several albums were released unfinished..... Most notably "McCartney", "ram", "mccartney2", "press to play", "back to the egg". you ain't so hot either - CRAZY-HORSE - 03-07-2015 Damn, I forgot to add "choba b cccp(the russion album)" and "run devil, run" to the list. you ain't so hot either - jazzboCR - 03-07-2015 oldies65 Wrote:legend has it that billy was a hard taskmaster and clyde wasn't having it, so billy fired him. Exactly. The group name was Billy Ward and his Dominoes". 'Nuff said. you ain't so hot either - jazzboCR - 03-07-2015 CRAZY-HORSE Wrote:There's nothing wrong with being a perfectionist in your occupational field "Perfectionism" is its own kind of mania... And can sound kinda sterile. "The perfect is the enemy of the good." The middle ground between Ian Anderson and the Grateful Dead works for me. you ain't so hot either - jazzboCR - 03-07-2015 SteveO Wrote:Paul has always been a perfectionist from The Beatles right up to his current touring band! Well and good, but there is such a thing as over-rehearsing. I like Ringo's All-Starr Band doings and some of that is downright sloppy (in a good way). |
