Richard Manuel - died 04 March 1986. Best known as a member of The Band - pianist, singer and sometimes drummer, he wrote this song - 'Jawbone' and has posthumously received recognition from various luminaries on the musical landscape as having been something of a genius. I think he was aware that he was fairly well regarded while still alive too, which is really what counts!

He was both lead guitarist and vocalist for Ten Years After and it's likely he's one of the 60's guitar masters John Frusciante refers to.
