A long-time major pianist, Dave McKenna was teamed with Jake Hanna and then-newbie, Scott Hamilton for 2 albums in '79, then '86. Packaged together by Concord Jazz, they are 2 to have. What AMG says: http://www.allmusic.com/album/double-play-no-bass-hit-major-league-mw0000220613 Unfortunately, I can't find music to present--can someone find something and backfill ? An appreciation of the late Mr. McKenna: http://www.aahome.com/dave/
Red Garland Trio Undeservedly obscure tho' he was on 6 early Miles Davis recordings. Lost a lot of years to heroin. Influenced many pianists with his playing style. Only 1 disc with the "trio" rubric but backed many excellent recordings with his trio *--look for that "best of..." comp. NOTE: These 2 guys are how you seduce somebody into listening to jazz--accessibility, something they already know and like--just jazzier.
