A Latino English-speaking country band - jazzboCR - 04-01-2015

Others may qualify but the paradigm, the ones who basically started this are Raul Malo and The Mavericks (totally descriptive name). Been doing this for 30 years, Gringo recording history going back 24. It's too limiting to call them "country"--they blend rockabilly, Tejano, Cubano, whatever Raul comes up with AND country to make "Maverick music". A Wiki (what a long, strange road it's been): http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Mavericks and Site: http://www.themavericksband.com/ Here's their discog of magnificence: http://www.allmusic.com/artist/the-mavericks-mn0000399659/discography << throw the dart anywhere and hit a winner. Take a look at this DVD: http://www.allmusic.com/album/live-in-austin-texas-dvd-mw0001367507 Raul Malo broke up the band and went solo for 1/2 decade but they are back together now (Mr. Malo's solo stuff: http://www.allmusic.com/artist/raul-malo-mn0000340527/discography << Look at his critical/fan ratings!).
Some tunes:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cos9y6Mfv6s << great demo of how they mix elements
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ursC7ZiQvxI << classic country tune, "Maverized"
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s_AeLQJeTd0 << tough song,tough vid
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6zsAKJYBHyE << a rompin', stompin' version of this classic--the soloists aren't just playing--they are invested.

Raul Malo solo:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O17jD6K1uY4 << a cautionary tale...nice pix though

UPDATE: The Mavs have a killer new album--critics and fans both agree. Here's a review, then some tunes: http://www.allmusic.com/album/mono-mw0002809810 << not something new under the Sun but never the same old, same old with them either. So new, it's cheaper new than used (those promos and cut-outs haven't hit the market yet).
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cc10BVmUZ3Q << Oh yeah! So right.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ana2JAIFz8k << Be in the first 10 to hear them live on this << turn it up LOUD and rock your sweet cheeks off
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7ApuerjoLMs
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rQCYMmbbdnI << a song off the album, here played as a duet--so you can hear Sr. Malo's voice better
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=adqwZ990XnE << The only cover and it's by an aligned artist (Doug Sahm, The Sir Douglas Quintet).
