2 women singers - jazzboCR - 08-10-2014 Kirsten Thien Music is the main point and she makes it sultry-delicious, but she had me with the red hair and freckles. Then I learned she left a promising investment banking career to pursue her muse...oh, Daddy! Her 3rd album is 2011's Delicious. No write-up, just the songs from this and the next one, You've Got Me in an in-studio perf in Holland: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F1kWOwVD1M8 and 2 non-album perfs of classics: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ICgPD6_Lx40 and http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x59gJgrpGNo << she has more concert perfs on YT--check'm out. Teresa James and the Rhythm Tramps Like'm voices big and brassy (but always controlled)? You're in the right place here, mate. 8 CDs in a decade, including 2 live pops. Here's AMG on 2010's You Know You Love It : http://www.allmusic.com/album/you-know-you-love-it-mw0001994472 Now the tunes: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Buhcup6m4YQ << Delbert McClinton always got the best contemporaries for his cruises http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6pQjXIOZvDA << with N.O. via the UK's Jon Cleary on keys q.v. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a4zv2e1V7Bc http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qaZcePaP4GM http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WpVOTnOHcZk http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0T5YlX5Aj_k << turn this one UP! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F_X-Gg-qMp8 << From 05's The Rhythm Method One dead-solid version, you betcha. Thing of it is, she doesn't pull out all the stops--there's always a little left in reserve she could reach if necessary... 2 women singers - R_burke - 09-10-2014 thanks for the turn on to Kirsten Thien, I was already familiar with Teresa James, she plays quite often in my area (Ventura California) 2 women singers - SteveO - 09-10-2014 I enjoyed both singers! My area being mainly working-class and retirees is not the pumped music area other younger, ethnically diverse or more affluent parts are (think: Tampa Bay, Jacksonville, Gainesville or Miami) but it's getting better. My tastes and interests were imported fully formed from the NorthEast US. 2 women singers - CRAZY-HORSE - 10-10-2014 i remember the names Tampa,Gainesville and Jacksonville...must have either driven through them or seen the exit signs for them...! no need to mention Miami,we all know Miami, its where Dexter Morgan comes from! stopped off around Cape Canaveral/Merritt Island/Brevard County for a week or so...lovely place and great hospitality from Major Tim and family, will never forget it, especially the fish tacos, of which i'd never eaten previously 2 women singers - CRAZY-HORSE - 10-10-2014 R_burke Wrote:thanks for the turn on to Kirsten Thien, I was already familiar with Teresa James, she plays quite often in my area (Ventura California) should i really give my opinion of my impressions of California, well, not California really as i only spent a few hours at LAX waiting to fly east and out of the country again... yeah,ok i will... all the Homeland Security guys, and Law Enforcement people were accomodating to a visitor.... the staff at check-in etc also friendly.... the locals wouldnt even give you the time of day to point you in the right direction to another terminal....except for one little old black man who was sweeping the sidewalk, he couldnt help me enough not saying all of LA or the North-West is like this, just sharing quick experiences from, like i said, a few hours at LAX. huge airport,no wonder they need buses doing a terminal loop circuit! 2 women singers - jazzboCR - 28-12-2014 More on Teresa James: My warm thoughts and glowing appraisal of her is shared by Ron Weinstock in his blog: http://inabluemood.blogspot.com/2012/11/teresa-james-come-on-home.html Her Site then some tunes from the newest: http://www.teresajames.com/ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XGOuytKNNeU << Mike Finnegan sharing lead...and playing killer B-3 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wiQg4dXaU0s https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zZCORZfi5AA << it takes a butt-tight unit to play in this deliberately loose manner, and have it sound so natural, so right ("organic" is my word for that.) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pQK_qXCJ7AE << This'll rip you a new one...heart, I mean... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hw4nRPUKamY https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WpITn1On1DU |
