There's nothing like wolverine blues - Lordofknutsford - 05-10-2014

I saw entombed play wolverine blues at Manchester academy in 1994 while they supported Machine Head. Needless to say Entombed absolutely smashed it and left wolverine blues tattooed to my brain. I've really not found anything as good since. Entombed have become a little too death metal for my tastes and not as rhythmical as they were during wolverine. Death n roll as it's described isn't my scene. I'm looking for recommendations.
Something rock n roll with a heavy metal sound without de-tuned monotone incessantly repeating guitar riffs. And no syncopated drum beat. I'm not criticising that kind of music but I've listened to it trying to like it with the same passion but alas no.
I've not got any ideas. All ideas will be listened to (when my wife is out).

LOL...like your comment when my wife is out...I know the feeling! Welcome to the Great MD Lord! I hope you stay around here...I am a metal fan!

Here's something by Kylesa you may like ! They embody heavy guitar with great drumming!

Thanks Steve0. I played your link in the office yesterday and the wife walked in and told me to turn it off! Typical. That sounds great. I've not heard of them before (but that's not saying much). I'll look at their back catalogue. Thanks!

As for your clip Jazzbo....... Words fail me.

You don't play this to your wife! She'll say she doesn't know you and then suspect you of hiding an inner monster like mine does.

Brutally..... Yessss!!!! That's the word. In 1994 I used to feel guilty listening to it. Like it was satanic or evil in some way. I hated it at first but it's a fine line between love & hate and it's a love that lasts. If you hear anything like it, let me know.
Cheers
