Pink Floyd - goth metal raver - 15-04-2009 I just bought Dark Side of the Moon and The Wall on CD. I used to have both albums on cassette years ago and I've been feeling their lack ever since I got rid of all my old cassettes. Wow. The Wall is such an amazing album. And Dark Side is just as thought provoking as ever (I think it gets better the older you get). I've also got Echoes, their best of album. So what do other people think of the mighty Pink Floyd. Best rock band ever? Pink Floyd - TheKnowingDirge - 16-04-2009 personally I think Wish you were here is the best album, it a trubite to syd, I mean shine on you crazy diamond both parts are amazing, and have a cigar also a solid song this album is the best 44 min 24 sec I have ever spent on my ears! Pink Floyd - Tiggi - 16-04-2009 I've been in love with them for over 30 years now, so my opinion will be somewhat skewed. This band have been the best fit with what I want from music during that whole period. I don't, however, think that everything they did was wonderful; I like the Syd stuff, & understand the importance of their psychedelic years, but it doesn't pack the punch that their music had from Meddle onwards. Similarly, their music produced after the departure of Roger Waters is just a pale imitation of their former glories IMV. Also think RW's solo albums are excellent... The psychedelic stuff was interesting and fun but it's the work they did in the seventies that is truly wonderful. After Rogers departure they are a pale imitation, it's true. But I do like 'High Hopes'. I've not heard any of Rogers solo stuff. What's it like? Pink Floyd - Tiggi - 17-04-2009 IMV it's more like the Floyd stuff that you like than Momentary Lapse or Division Bell. Well worth a listen... Pink Floyd - JonG - 17-04-2009 I used to be a big fan years ago. I think I had eight albums at one time. I sold them all. The only one I'm interested in revisiting is The Piper at the Gates of Dawn. Pink Floyd - jayburd - 29-04-2009 One of the best, anyway. The Floyd are the godfathers of what I like to call sonic layering and/or sonic texturing. My fave Floyd album is Animals followed by The Wall, Dark Side, and Atom Heart Mother. Pink Floyd - kvincent5555 - 07-05-2009 When they were on, they were classic. When they weren't, they put me to sleep. But I think that's part of the price of doing their kind of music, which was mostly about insanity, experimentation, and a bitter hatred of mankind. Perfect in the right combination. But too much of each, and it's just a bunch of loonies carrying on. Most importantly, it seems, was that they didn't seem to give a **** what the masses or the music business thought of them while they were doing it. The "dark sarcasm" of their lyrics, the strong bass lines, and the slow, thoughtful, expressive guitar work are what did it for me, I think. Gilmour's playing was a nice break from some of the flashy, overdone lead work that was prevalent in the rock of the 70s and 80s. Pink Floyd - DeusEx - 07-05-2009 The Wall is such a fantastic album, it's dark and melancholic and contains some impressive guitar work by D. Gilmour. Possibly the best solo ever infact on Comfortably Numb. I love the way that it's a whole 'suite' of music containing little intermissions between the main songs. Hey You is a beautiful song. I also rate Wish You Were Here and Momentry Lapse Of Reason, albums that I have been listening to for 20 years and I keep going back to them. When they were at their best they were possibly the best band that have ever existed. mile:
