Do You Still Buy Cds / Vinyl? - metalife - 12-07-2014

I apologize if a thread like this already exists on the site. I'm still new here.

Just wondering if people are still buying physical copies of albums. For me, I always will. I have never, and never will, download music. I'll always pay for my music, simply because it cost money to produce, record and market an album. Its blindingly obvious that the industry has taken a dive in the past ten years. I blame this on the loss of the studios. In times past, the studios had there guaranteed money in the band artist, so they could afford to take a chance on some new blood. Now, without the album sales, no studio is willing to do that. Like any business, if there's no money going in, there wont be money going out.

I could go on and on on this subject but I'm interested in getting other peoples opinions.

Cheers.

Recently found Aerosmith Live Bootleg at a record fair. Which was awesome cause it's the item I was hoping to find.

Yes, I still purchase CDs. I purchase digitally also. I have downloaded, but only stuff that's unreleased.

I did download a few years ago, but never stopped buying CDs, and now that I am into vinyls and that legal streaming exists, I mostly buys vinyls and listen to music online, or digital versions of my own collection.
Proof I still buy physical music Wink

Yes I still buy CD's - I'll probably be the last person on the planet to do so - or maybe CH will be. CD is the most convenient format - pure and simple. Get into the car, pop in the disc and away we go. Same at home - turn on the sound system pop the disc into the tray and go and make some food or have a glass of vino - and the sound just fills the room and sets the mood. Gave up on vinyl a long time ago. Hated cassettes from day dot. Remember making out with girls from school to 8-track Deep Purple of all things. Digital downloads (mp3's) are pure crap. Wave files are OK. And for those of you that think you are getting good quality music on your phone - you aren't. Pure and simple.

My CD collection is pretty much complete. I bought a used Radiohead Pablo Honey CD at a discount bin for $7 this summer. Basically for the song Creep.

My Beatle vinyl and two CDs Rubber Soul and Abbey Road get a lot of play !
