Hey guys!
Been recently doing general research on music blogs and how they are received online.
I have two questions and any feedback would be greatly appreciated!

1. Do you believe that the online community would rather read about their favourite artist or go straight to visual and musical content?

2. In terms of video blogging "vlogging", image and musical content do you agree that social sharing sites like Youtube, Souncloud, Facebook and Twitter are as efficient as blog sites?

Many Thanks!

With regards to the first question, I think people listen to the music first (probably YouTube) and then check out the artist's info/website. In these days of 'short attention span syndrome' (when last did you hear of anyone sitting down in a social group and REALLY listening to an album) I doubt whether people even check out the artist at all. They just want the product.

With regards to the 2nd question I simply don't have a clue what 'vlogging' is. To me, there are too many subdivisions being created to try to describe things. There's audio and video and that's that. Where you find it or consume it, is irrelevant. I am waiting for the day we have YT without the advertising - it is really becoming ridiculous and all-pervasive.

No sweat I am an old fart so you have to take that into account. I just call things as I see them.

People should stop looking at music and start listening to it. They might just discover something..........

I have an extra question! Smile

1. For mainstream genres of music e.g Dance and Pop do you believe blogs are as useful for promotion as social network sites e.g Facebook and Twitter?

How can they possibly be as useful?
How many users do Facebook and Twitter have?
when your blog approaches those numbers, then it will be as useful

No, I don't believe they are. FB and all the rest give the person far more exposure.

I'm not on Facebook or Twitter but I do spend more time on Youtube than anywhere. It is a great place for music and interviews. Also have enjoyed movies there. I look at the artist mainly before I do the music. If it is a artist I don't like, I don't even bother with their music. I'm set in my ways
