Of Mice & Men - Restoring Force - Music Head - 12-02-2014 enters the Billboard chart this week at #4 Spotify online listen not yet rated by allmusic some of that SteveO screamo stuff here if you're gonna scream at me, I'm not listening artist website - http://ofmiceandmenofficial.com/ Bio - from allmusic ![]() Based out of Costa Mesa, California, hard-hitting, Steinbeck-loving metalcore outfit Of Mice & Men was formed in 2009 in Columbus, Ohio by Attack Attack! vocalist Austin Carlile and New Zealand-bred bass player Jaxin Hall. Boasting a rotating cast of players that, as of 2014, features Carlile (lead vocals), Alan Ashby (rhythm guitar), Phil Manansala (lead guitar), Aaron Pauley (bass, vocals), and Valentino Arteaga (drums), the band released its eponymous debut long-player through Rise Records in 2010, followed by the Flood in 2011, and Restoring Force in 2014. Album Review - from loudwire ![]() Of Mice & Men are in a state of transition and after a listen to the bandâs new âRestoring Forceâ album, it appears as though the skyâs the limit. Since the groupâs last album, the band has added bassist Aaron Pauley of Jamieâs Elsewhere and his clean vocals have added the perfect compliment to frontman Austin Carlile. The group also took the next step in terms of production, deciding to switch things up after two records with Joey Sturgis. Acclaimed rock producer David Bendeth challenged the band to re-evaluate their writing process and it shows. Drummer Tino Arteaga recently stated, âHe really challenged us to try and step out of our comfort zone and try to write songs that we felt like gave us a different outlook on how to write songs and how to formulate and put things together.â The album kicks off with a brutal assault on âPublic Service Announcement,â with Arteagaâs drums really sending the song off to the races. âFeels Like Foreverâ is one of the albumâs standout tracks, showing off a more rock side to the band, with an infectious guitar groove opening the song and heavy bass giving the track an ebb and flow sway. Meanwhile, the tracks âAnother Youâ and the contemplative album closer âSpace Enough to Growâ also show a more melodic side to the band. But fans who are looking for the crushing Of Mice & Men still have plenty of gristle to chew on. The chaotic and deeply personal âBones Exposedâ is sure to generate moshpit awesomeness live and the intense build of the chugging guitars on âYou Make Me Sickâ lead to one of the heaviest and catchiest moments on the record. Plus, âYouâre Not Aloneâ has a beat that feels like its ready to knock down a door. All in all, Of Mice & Men have broadened their horizons with the âRestoring Forceâ album and given fans more of themselves on disc than normal. As Carlile recently stated, âJust the fact that we can give our fans and our family and our true listeners a piece of us, that says a lot. That means the world to me.â âRestoring Forceâ stands as a pivotal piece of work in what will be the bandâs musical legacy. sample: Track Listing 1.
