i dont own any Pete Seeger and his death yesterday made me realise how many of his folk songs i do like/love, and seeing as it was on special
for $9.99 for 37tracks/2cds i couldnt go far wrong IMO

...and then we get two more from another great singer who hailed from the same era as Seeger in 'the legendary' Bob Dylan

What Did You Buy? - KnarfRethcaw - 30-01-2014

Get Lucky slipped by underappreciated I feel. He was on top of his game during that tour as well.
I gotta say, I hate seeing Pete Seeger in the same general space as Dylan. Especially two pearls like Desire and Time Out of Mind. Seeger was a boring old man before he even aged a day. Remember him freaking out on Dylan and trying to pull the plug on Dylan's electric set? That's about how in touch he was with the generation at hand. I woulda walked over to him and stamped on his hand with my boot heel rendering him from ever being able to sing about rivers, frogs, coal mines or freedom ever again. Even Dylan only realized Seegers importance for a short period of time then grew tired of this stinky out-of-touch old man hanging around like he still mattered. He was also a mediocre guitar player. He lived to be in his nineties and never got any better on his instrument than in the 60's. That's a long time to practice..what was he doing?

That said, here is what I bought this week. All on vinyl, I will only buy a cd if that was the only way it was released.
Bill Callahan - Have Fun With God
Damien Jurado - Brothers and Sisters of the Eternal Sun
Doug Paisley - Strong Feelings
Dum Dum Girls - Too True
Steven Malkmus and the Jicks - A Wig Out at Jagbags

maybe I was too hard on Seeger.
