RE: What Are You Listening To? - CRAZY-HORSE - 16-09-2023 ![]() DEVILSKIN "red" vinyl 2020 New Zealand metal band... fourth album... a birthday gift on red vinyl... opening track contains a scrowler but after that he is gone and it becomes good ol' fashioned guitar driven metal... I LIKE THIS ALBUM one of the quieter more melodic moments: RE: What Are You Listening To? - CRAZY-HORSE - 10-01-2024 ![]() JIM STEINMAN "bad for good" cd/vinyl 1981 his one and only album whereby he sings... typical Steinman/Meatloaf sounds on here as expected... more hard rock than classic rock... contains the obligatory 7-8 minute hard rock songs, a spoken word piece and a piano ballad in stereotypical Steinman formula... I LOVE THIS ALBUM RE: What Are You Listening To? - CRAZY-HORSE - 30-03-2024 ![]() BLACK SABBATH "black sabbath" cd, 1970 a revisit... their debut... great to hear this one again... plenty of solid metal guitar riffs on here... I LOVE THIS ALBUM lets go for the seventh and last track in this occasion RE: What Are You Listening To? - CRAZY-HORSE - 05-05-2024 ![]() GUNS 'n' ROSES "appetite for destruction" cd, 1987 a revisit on a recent road-trip... their debut... used to really love this album but it kinda fell flat on its recent spin... still several great songs but the vast majority just didnt cut it for me... a disappointment but I LIKE THIS ALBUM still their greatest song IMO: RE: What Are You Listening To? - CRAZY-HORSE - 08-10-2024 ![]() BLACK STONE CHERRY "kentucky" cd, 2016 a revisit... thought i would give it a spin after using it in the 'artist association game' thread... from Kentucky fifth studio album a cross between hard rock and southern rock, feels and sounds like Kid Rock's guitar driven rock in places and Nickelback in others... one cover on here, Edwyn Starr's "war", their version is good but Starr's is the still the best.. a decent album, nothing bad on here, just a steady rock album I LIKE THIS ALBUM fave: RE: What Are You Listening To? - CRAZY-HORSE - 25-12-2024 ![]() OZZY OSBOURNE "blizzard of oz" cd, 1980 a revisit yesterday (Christmas Eve) his first solo album a pretty decent record but not a patch on the first four Sabbath albums I LIKE THIS ALBUM fave: RE: What Are You Listening To? - CRAZY-HORSE - 01-01-2025 ![]() QUEEN "sheer heart attack" cd/vinyl 1974 a revisit their third studio album hard/glam rock for the most part with a few slower moments thrown in never used to like this album but it has grown on me over the past couple of decades I LOVE THIS ALBUM fave, always has been and probably always will RE: What Are You Listening To? - CRAZY-HORSE - 25-01-2025 ![]() KISS "love gun" cd, 1977 a revisit, wanted to play KISS but a random album pick really like half of this album, the rest is filler as is the norm with most KISS albums was their first album to feature Ace Frehley on lead vocals even though he wrote tracks previously final track is a cover of The Crystals' "the he kissed me" with changed lyrics to "then she kissed me" that track is okay but not necessary IMO the two standout tracks for me are the title track and Ace's "shock me" I LIKE THIS ALBUM had to go with Ace on this occasion: RE: What Are You Listening To? - CRAZY-HORSE - 28-01-2025 ![]() BLACK SABBATH "paranoid" cd, 1970 a revisit their second studio album love their sound on those early albums I LOVE THIS ALBUM fav: RE: What Are You Listening To? - CRAZY-HORSE - 02-02-2025 ![]() RAINBOW "long live rock n roll" from the MH vinyl collection released in 1978 third album from this UK hard rock band picked this one because i had never heard an album by them they actually come from around 5 miles from where my mum comes from in the UK some pretty good hard rock sounds on here, especially the first four tracks (side 1on the vinyl) the remaining four tracks were still good but just lacked the intensity of the first side for me Dio's vocals are top notch on this album i see on Wiki that guitarist Ritchie Blackmore is not only the only one still in the band but also the only original member still alive in summary, album was good enough for me to want to explore their early albums (1970s) and then maybe the remainder if all goes well there album comes in at a decent 2.1 for a first up listen and certainly has room to improve with more listens I LIKE THIS ALBUM fav: |
