What Are You Listening To? - Kgbow - 04-11-2013 Lee Ritenour - Rit. Standard bit of smooth jazz. Brilliant guitarist. What Are You Listening To? - Music Head - 21-11-2013 Artist Recording History studio albums - 76 live albums - 8 compilation albums - 13 singles - 42 from my library (cd) ![]() One of the first crooners I fell in love with. I had been feeding myself rock n roll since the british invasion. Englebert and Tom Jones both opened my ears to other music, leading me to explore Sinatra and the like. This double cd might be a bit of overkill, but out of the 44 tracks, there is only 1 I don't care for. That's hard to do for any artist. Still it just misses a love score overall, even though 13 tracks achieve that. Only 3 artists could manage that love status over 44 songs for me. This covers about 10 years and 8 albums over the mans career. Considering that he is still performing it could have gone much deeper. Amazing for anyone to keep it up for that long. Vegas can do that for those that are over the hill. Not going to list the 44 tracks. Even I have limits. I LIKE THIS ALBUM Worst Track - Precious Love Best Track - The Last Waltz 3's - 13 2's - 30 1's - 1 grade - 2.3 of 3.0 allmusic - 2.7 of 3.0 What Are You Listening To? - CRAZY-HORSE - 21-11-2013 i like Engelbert, but sadly, dont own anything...that will change,he's on my christmas list... BTW, Tom Jones once said that engelbert and john farnham have the best voices he has ever heard...! What Are You Listening To? - GoldTop - 24-11-2013 I like it when hip hop meets jazz. http://youtu.be/nA6-Lvv66xI What Are You Listening To? - CRAZY-HORSE - 27-11-2013 ***********NO IMAGE AVAILABLE************ EDDIE FISHER "oh,mein papa".......vinyl, 1956. album chart action: no info available singles chart action: "oh,my papa".........#1 US, #1 AU, #9 UK. Eddie Fisher... marries to Debbie Reynolds,Elizabeth Taylor and Connie Stevens, father to Carrie Fisher. crooner from the pre-pop era, but a pop star in his own right in the late 1940s-mid 1950s.... this album contains his siganture tune in "oh,my papa"...the other songs are in the same mold as that that one... nothing bad on here, nothing great neither IMO, just a steady album of pre-pop easy listening material... i only bought this album because i wanted "oh my papa"...it was my Grandfathers favourite song, he always used to sing it around me and it has always bought back fond memories of my childhood, and of a fine man,one who molded me into the guy i now am...RIP Ronald Harbord. Eddie died aged 82 in 2010 following complications from hip surgery in his home town of Philadelphia,PA. Chris(as i just found out via wikipedia) was diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer in 2001 and defied all the odds to survive this normally lethal disease... in 2005 he retired from making solo records but still occasionally pops up on other peoples albums and still occasionally tours with Memphis Fireflies... but, all up a very good album from a very good artist I LIKE THIS ALBUM worst track: love turns to lies best track: steel river tracks: 1. steel river *** http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BOSA5v-foMs live 2. stainsbury girls *** http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MYLSfSrsiv8 live 3. chisel hill ** 4. josephine *** http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uttQLuW-qM4 live 5. one golden rule ** 6. all summer long ** 7. stone ** http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=On4KhhM95nM audio 8. shamrock diaries ** 9. love turns to lies ** 10.hired gun ** http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8VDGI2tJy_M audio 3s=3 2s=7 1s=0 rating: 2.3 or 7.5/10 |
