Every once in a while you pull one off the shelf (out of the box in my case) that just put a smile on your face. Tiggi knows what I'm talking about. Had forgotten how great this album is. Caught in the obsession of the disco craze, a few rays of hope burst through. Second album from these Irish lads headed by the quavering vocals of Feargal Sharkey. That original incarnation only lasted for 4 albums. Sometimes that's all you need. Later reformed sans the shark, for a 2 album waste. This one never even charted in the states but made it to #6 across the pond, with singles of My Perfect Cousin and Wednesday Week. The only throw away is the remake of Under The Boardwalk, which the Drifters probably got a good laugh out of. But a whopping 15 songs don't hurt.

Music Head appeared not to like what he heard of this recently, but I'm going to leap to its' defence.
DSOTM is a bit of a sacred cow, but Coyne & Co seem to have struck the right balance between reverence, & brutally radical reinterpretation.
Some of this sounds like it might have sounded if the Floyd had recorded DSOTM five years earlier, and the rest feels like it's coming from the future.
Messy & psychedelic, in much the same manner as Embryonic, this is a blast.
Henry Rollins is a good choice for the spoken sections, but Peaches is no Clare Torry...

Wow! Ingenious album cover guys. Was the art work expensive? Ohio band formed in 2001 and this is their 6th full length. First I have heard them and I can hear some White Stripes for sure and some Cold War Kids at times. Maybe a little more consistent in the bluesy area. Some decent tracks here, with one near great one, but overall it just didn't hold up for me. Looks like it will be their best seller yet, as it has debuted at #3 on the U.S. charts. Tighten Up is the first single.

The girl half of Everything But The Girl with her third solo album. Although her and hubby Ben Watt (the other half) have not recorded together since 2002, Tracey has remained busy with side projects. I am loving the leadoff track here, with a few others needing some more airplay. Damn, I hate that. Nevertheless, it does make the buy list, even if at the bottom. Could have used a few more tracks.

Model turned singer with her debut album, produced by hubby Jack White. They clicked after her appearance in a White Stripes video. Some country flavored tracks here in which Karen hits some perfect Dolly Parton notes. Although nothing here I would call great, there is also nothing bad. And many of them would grow on me. Excellent live clips from an in store promo event. Some of them are doubled up, meaning 2 songs in 1 clip, which I have posted in both places. That album cover is freaking me out. I can see 2 different heads (a man and a woman), depending on what I'm smoking.
