another of my xmas giftcard purchases...
this time its Janis Ian's double best of set and the only thing i own of hers.
Janis started off as a folky,thus the reason the album is posted in this thread,branched out into a bit of light-pop for a while then returned to her folky acoustic roots again.
man, i love her voice!, its so beautiful, and her vocal control is sublime IMO.
she is indeed a great songwriter, its just a shame that with thirty-one tracks on here,well, twenty-nine really, as theres two versions of "at seventeen"(the single version and the extended album version), also "hair on spun gold" has two versions, the original studio version and Janis' demo version(but i cannot tell the difference between the two.
now those two songs that are basically duplicated here actually piss me off, becuase my favourite song of heres, in "the other side of the sun" does not appear on this album whereas it could have if not for those two stupid duplicates!
other than that though, this is a very,very good album highlighting the best of Janis Ian!
it says a lot for the quality of material this lady releases when a thirty-one track two disc set still scores a "love score" on the MHRS.
