Born on this day ... - CRAZY-HORSE - 04-02-2016

seeing as I missed the legendary Steve Marriott's birthday a couple of weeks ago I best make amends now...

1952: Jerry Shirley:
drummer, has worked with the likes of Dave Gilmour, Badfinger, Sammy Hagar and John Entwistle to name a few,
but his biggest gig would have been as permanent drummer with Marriott's Humble Pie.
a blues rock outfit formed after Marriott left Small Faces....

here's humble Pie's most famous song:

Alice has a house here in Perth, well about 45 minutes south of Perth actually,
He spends a couple of months here every year playing golf..
Apparently he is an excellent golfer who could play professionally if he chose to.

Emily Loizeau was born on this day in 1975, in Neuilly-sur-Seine, France, to a French father and an English mother which makes her very ably at home in either language. She makes beautifully put together, up-to-date pieces in a style that is reminiscent of cabaret, or café songs, which follows, given that she studied classical music, philosophy and theatre. She is an author, composer and singer and she makes song-stories/montages – very nicely orchestrated and equally stylishly illustrated (when video clips are invovled, and also in live performances) with a smattering of English thrown in now and then, but mostly sung in French.

This track is from her debut album L’autre bout du monde (The other side of the world) and is a duet with the ever interesting Andrew Bird, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HUP2WRuY244

And yet again, a reference to William Blake in both the title, and the title track of her latest album, Mothers & Tygers …

Joshua Kadison, born on this day in 1963, in LA. Best known for his easy listening debut album Painted Desert Serenade which was very nicely done indeed, as is to be expected, what with production and musical inputs from Rod Argent! He went on to release a few more fairly average albums (which Rod Argent had no involvement in, although Kadison did seem to have the power to attract musos of the calibre of Pino Palladino who played on Vanishing America. Quite a coup, I'd have thought) – nothing wrong with his voice or his piano, just middle of the road is all – which can be a stinging indictment! And he’s more or less disappeared off the radar these days …
