UK singles chart for week ending 14th April:

13 is unlucky for some, including Ed Sheeran whose thirteen-week stint at Number 1 on the Official Singles Chart has come to an end.Harry Styles scores his first Number 1 as a solo artist with debut single Sign Of The Times. Taken from his fortchoming self-titled debut album, due for release May 12, Sign Of The Times pipped Ed’s Shape Of You to the top spot by just over 3,000 copies, the track has been downloaded 39,000 times and accumulated 3.5 million streams in the seven days since its release.
It’s not all bad though for Ed – Shape of You (2) and Galway Girl (3) are still both in the Top 5, while Shape of You was the most streamed track of the week with 6.8 million plays.

Elsewhere, there are small gains for Martin Jensen’s Solo Dance and Zedd & Alessia Cara’s Stay which both advance one place to new peak positions of 7 and 8 respectively.

[h=4]New entries and high climbers[/h]Lorde’s Green Light advances seven places this week to crack the Top 20 for the first time (20). Jason Derulo, Nicki Minaj and Ty Dolla $ign’s Swalla leaps 10 spots to 24, while Future’s Mask Off climbs seven rungs to Number 26.
Finally, two tracks enter the Top 40 for the very first time; Martin Solveig and Ina Wroldsen’s Places rockets 15 places to Number 27, and Disciples score their first Top 40 entry since July 2015 with On My Mind, a 47 place riser to Number 34.

The Chainsmokers’ debut album Memories… Do Not Open is this week’s highest new entry on the Official Albums Chart, with their collection debuting at Number 3. Memories do however contain Ed Sheeran, who has kept his place at Number 1 for a sixth week.
Ed’s ÷ notched up 84,000 combined chart sales to retain its Number 1 status for another week, ahead of Rag’n’Bone Man who holds firm at Number 2 with his fast-selling debut Human. Drake’s More Life (4) and Wonderland from Take That (5) round out the Top 5.

[h=4]New entries and high climbers[/h]A further three albums also chart as brand new entries inside the Top 10. Deep Purple’s 20[SUP]th[/SUP] studio album Infinite lands at Number 6, becoming their 10[SUP]th[/SUP] Top 10 collection in the process. Father John Misty’s Pure Comedy sits at 8 and marks his first Top 10 LP. Next, Mike & The Mechanics return to the Official Albums Chart Top 10 for the first time since 1996 – Let Me Fly is at 9.
Maryland synthpop outfit Future Islands score a personal best with The Far Field at Number 18, Joey Badass hits a new career peak with All-Amerikkkan Badass at 23, and Rag’n’Bone Man’s Wolves EP hits the Top 40 for the first time at Number 24 following a physical release.
Finally, Queen’s lead guitarist Brian May lands at 27 with his new collaborative album with West End performer Kerry Ellis named Golden Days.

One Direction member Harry Styles has knocked off Ed Sheeran from the top of the ARIA Singles Chart with his debut solo release ‘Sign Of The Times’. Styles becomes the second One Direction member to have a solo #1, following Zayn’s ‘Pillowtalk’ (#1 Feb. ’16).
In its fourth week in the top 50, Clean Bandit’s ‘Symphony’ moves up five spots to #9, hitting the top ten for the first time. The track becomes the British trio’s third top ten single.
After debuting at #50 last week, Sydney artist Dean Lewis jumps 25 spots to #25 with his debut single ‘Waves’.
This week’s chart also includes new peaks for Future’s ‘Mask Off’ (#20) and ‘Selfish’ (#37), Calvin Harris’ ‘Heatstroke’ (#23), Jason Derulo’s ‘Swalla’ (#29) and Martin Jensen’s ‘Solo Dance’ (#40),
Debuts:
#1: Harry Styles ‘Sign Of The Times’ – The debut solo single from Harry Styles gives the One Direction member his second career #1 on the ARIA Charts. ‘Sign Of The Times’ is Styles’ first chart appearance since One Direction’s ‘History’ (#25 Feb. ’16). His first #1 single was with the One Direction hit ‘Drag Me Down’ (#1 Aug. ’15).
#21: Halsey ‘Now Or Never’ – American singer-songwriter Halsey picks up her first appearance in the ARIA top 50 as a lead artist with ‘Now Or Never’. The track is the first single released from Halsey’s forthcoming second album Hopeless Fountain Kingdom, due in June. She previously topped the Singles Chart as featured artist on The Chainsmokers’ ‘Closer’ (#1 Aug. ’16).
#42: Kyle ‘iSpy’ – The top 50 debut from LA rapper Kyle. ‘iSpy’, which features fellow rapper Lil Yachty, is currently sitting in the top ten in the US at #4.

He may have dropped from #1 on the ARIA Singles Chart but Ed Sheeran maintains the top spot on the ARIA Albums Chart for a sixth consecutive week with ÷.
As well as twelve debuts, this week’s chart includes significant moves up from Taylor Swift’s 1989 (up 13 to #27), Remembrance (up 19 to #29), Guardians of the Galaxy: Awesome Mix Vol. 1 (up seven to #35) and Justin Bieber’s Purpose (up seven to #37).
Debuts:
#2: Tina Arena ‘Tina Arena (Greatest Hits & Interpretations)’ – A double disc retrospective from 2015 ARIA Hall Of Fame inductee Tina Arena. The first disc features highlights from Arena’s career from Singles Chart debut ‘I Need Your Body’ (#3 Jun. ’90), through to most recent album Eleven (#2 Nov. ’15). The second disc features reinterpretations of songs from Arena’s back catalogue by the likes of Jimmy Barnes, Katie Noonan, Kate-Miller Heidke and Dannii Minogue, as well as Arena’s 2015 ARIA Awards performance of ‘Chains’ with Jessica Mauboy and The Veronicas (#14 Dec. ’15).
#3: The Smith Street Band ‘More Scared Of You Than You Are Of Me’ – With their fourth studio album, Melbourne group The Smith Street Band pick up their first top ten on the ARIA Albums Chart. More Scared Of You Than You Are Of Me is the follow-up to the band’s first top 50 album Throw Me In The River (#18 Nov. ’14).
#4: The Chainsmokers ‘Memories...Do Not Open’ – American EDM act The Chainsmokers make their ARIA Albums Chart debut with Memories...Do Not Open. The duo’s debut album includes the singles ‘Paris’ (#4 Jan. ’17), the Coldplay collaboration ‘Something Just Like This’ (#2 Mar. ’17) and ‘The One’ (#36 Apr. ’17).
#10: Pentatonix ‘PTX, Vol. 4’ – A new EP from Pentatonix gives the American a cappella group their second top ten entry on the ARIA Albums Chart. The seven track release features the quintet’s takes on tracks by the likes of Queen, John Lennon and A-ha, as well as a cover of ‘Jolene’ featuring Dolly Parton. Their self-titled fourth album remains their highest peak (#5 Oct. ’15).
#14: Father John Misty ‘Pure Comedy’ – Pure Comedy is American singer-songwriter Josh Tillman’s third album under the pseudonym Father John Misty. It comes two years on from I Love You, Honeybear (#38 Feb. ’15) and is Tillman’s second appearance in the ARIA top 50.
#15: Bethel Music ‘Starlight (Live)’ – American worship group Bethel music score their fourth top 50 entry in four years with Starlight (Live). The album comes a year on from Have It All (Live) (#8 Mar. ’16) and was recorded while the group was on tour in the US.
#16: Falling In Reverse ‘Coming Home’ – The fourth album from American rock band Falling In Reverse. The follow-up to Just Like You (#8 Mar. ’15) is also the group’s fourth album to chart in the ARIA top 50.
#19: Joey Bada$$ ‘All-AmerikkkanBada$$’ – Album two from American rapper Joey Bada$$. All-Amerikkkan Bada$$ comes just over two years on from B4.DA.$$ (#17 Jan. ’15) and features appearances by Schoolboy Q, J Cole, Chronixx and more.
#20: Deep Purple ‘Infinite’ – Hard rock legends Deep Purple return to the ARIA top 50 for the first time since 1999 with Infinite. The band’s twentieth studio album is the follow-up to 2013’s Now What?! and includes a cover of The Doors’ ‘Roadhouse Blues’. Deep Purple’s last top 50 appearance was with 30: Very Best Of (#41 Apr. ’99).
#25: Rachael Leahcar ‘Shadows’ – Studio album four from former Voice contestant Rachael Leahcar. Shadows comes three years on from Here Comes The Sun (#38 Apr. ’14) is also her fourth album to chart in the ARIA top 50.
#34: The Ten Tenors ‘Wish You Were Here’ – The eighth top 50 entry on the ARIA Albums Chart for vocal ensemble The Ten Tenors. Wish You Were Here pays tribute to sadly-departed artists including David Bowie, Prince, John Lennon, Amy Winehouse and Jon English. The group last charted with Our Christmas Wish (#16 Nov. ’15).
#46: Deez Nuts ‘Binge & Purgatory’ – Melbourne hardcore band Deez Nuts score their fourth entry in the ARIA top 50 with Binge & Purgatory. The band’s fifth studio album is the follow-up to Word Is Bond (#20 May ’15).

Ed Sheeran took a week off from dominating the Official Singles Chart last week, but he has climbed back up to the top spot today after just seven days away.Shape Of You knocks Harry Styles’ Sign Of The Times from the peak to log a 14[SUP]th[/SUP] week at the top. When it comes to non-consecutive chart toppers, only Frankie Laine’s I Believe has achieved more weeks at Number 1; that track spent 18 weeks at Number 1 over three stints back in 1953.
Clean Bandit and Zara Larsson’s Symphony hops one spot to Number 2, a new peak for the single. Ed’s back again with Galway Girl at 3, ahead of Harry Styles who tumbles to Number 4 with Sign Of The Times. Coincidentally, the last one-week reign at Number 1 was Harry’s fellow One Direction bandmate Zayn with debut single Pillowtalk in February 2016.

[h=4]New entries and high climbers[/h]Kendrick Lamar dominates today’s Official Singles Chart with five songs from his album Damn hitting the Top 40. The LP’s lead single Humble climbs 25 places to Number 6, becoming this week’s highest climber in the process. The track is also Kendrick’s third Top 10 single and his highest charting release as a lead artist. Other tunes of his making an impact include DNA (18), Loyalty ft. Rihanna (27), Element (33) and Love (39).
Jason Derulo is another huge climber with his Nicki Minaj & Ty Dolla $ign hook-up Swalla, which rises nine spots to Number 15, and finally, two tracks hit the Top 40 for the first time this week. Lady Gaga enters at Number 23 with surprise single release The Cure, while J Hus’ Did You See rises seven places to Number 34.

Damn indeed for Kendrick Lamar who just misses out on his second Number 1 album on this week’s Official Albums Chart.The rapper’s fourth studio album, also stylised as DAMN. rounds out the week at Number 2, some 30,000 copies behind Ed Sheeran’s ÷, which logs a seventh week at Number 1.
Kendrick’s popularity goes from strength to strength, securing his best opening week to date in relation to both physical and digital sales, and streams. The collection is his third Top 10 LP, following 2016’s Untitled Unmastered and the chart topper To Pimp A Butterfly from 2015.
Rounding out today’s Top 5 are Rag’n’Bone Man’s Human (3), More Life by Drake (4) and Take That’s Wonderland (5).

[h=4]New entries and high climbers[/h]Tinie Tempah has bagged himself a third Top 10 album with Youth at Number 9, while John Mayer lands in the Top 20 with The Search For Everything at 16, becoming his fourth Top 40 record in the process.
There are rises for Bruno Mars’ 24K Magic, a six place upward move to Number 14, while Adele’s 25 also shoots up six rungs to Number 20. 25 has now spent an unbroken 74 weeks in the Top 40 since its release.
Finally, greatest hits collections from Fleetwood Mac and Oasis return to the Top 40; Fleetwood’s The Very Best Of Fleetwood Mac floats 13 placings to 34, and Oasis’ Time Flies leaps six spots to Number 37.

After dropping to #2 for a week, Ed Sheeran’s ‘Shape Of You’ returns to the top spot to claim it’s record-breaking fourteenth week at #1 on the ARIA Singles Chart. The track overtakes Coolio’s ‘Gangsta’s Paradise’ (#1 Oct. ’95) as the longest-running #1 on the ARIA Singles Chart (the ARIA Charts era covers July 1983 to present).
In its fifth week in the top 50, ‘Symphony’ continues its steady climb up the chart, moving a further three spots to #6.
Dean Lewis’ ‘Waves’ continues its move up the chart, this week moving to just outside of the top 20 at #21.
There are also new peaks this week for Jason Derulo’s ‘Swalla’ (up four to #25), Kyle’s ‘iSpy’ (up six to #36).
Debuts:
#16: Kendrick Lamar ‘DNA.’ – The first of three debuts on the ARIA Singles Chart this week for American rapper Kendrick Lamar. All three debuts come from Lamar’s new album Damn. (#2 this week). ‘DNA.’ includes samples of criticism of Lamar by several Fox News commentators, as well as a sample of the Rick James track ‘Mary Jane’.
#17: Lady Gaga ‘The Cure’ – Lady Gaga releases her first single of 2017, ‘The Cure’. The track was unveiled by the singer-songwriter during her Saturday night headlining set during the weekend of the Coachella festival. Gaga scored two chart entries in 2016: ‘Perfect Illusion’ (#14 Sept. ’16) and ‘Million Reasons’ (#34 Dec. ’16).
#20: Kendrick Lamar Feat. Rihanna ‘Loyalty.’ – Kendrick Lamar’s second new entry for the week. Featuring a guest vocal by Rihanna, ‘Loyalty.’ includes samples of tracks by Bruno Mars, Ol’ Dirty Bastard and Jay-Z.
#29: Kendrick Lamar ‘Love.’ – The final new entry for the week from Kendrick Lamar’s #2 album Damn.. ‘Love.’ features German rapper Zacari and American artist Kid Capri.
#31: G-Eazy & Kehlani ‘Good Life’ – American artists G-Eazy and Kehlani team up for ‘Good Life’. The track is the first to chart locally from The Fate Of The Furious: The Album (new at #13 this week). It’s G-Eazy’s second chart entry as lead artist, following ‘Me, Myself & I’ (#19 Feb. ’16). It’s Kehlani’s first entry as lead artist.

It’s week seven at #1 on the ARIA Albums Chart for Ed Sheeran’s ÷. With ‘Shape Of You’ notching up a record-breaking fourteenth week at #1 on the Singles Chart, it’s the sixth week in 2016 that Sheeran has topped both charts.
A jump of eleven spots to #16 puts Taylor Swift’s 1989 back into the top 20 for the first time since October 2016.
In its seventh week, Remembrance moves up from #27 to a new peak at #20.
With the new Guardians Of The Galaxy soundtrack released this week, Awesome Mix Vol. 1 is back up ten spots to #25.
Debuts:
#2: Kendrick Lamar ‘Damn.’ – Two years on from topping the ARIA Albums Chart with To Pimp A Butterfly (#1 Mar. ’15), Kendrick Lamar returns with Damn.. The American rapper’s fourth album features the single ’Humble.‘ (#2 Apr. ’17) as well as appearances by Rihanna and U2. Lamar charted last year with the outtakes compilation untitled unmastered. (#3 Mar. ’16). To Pimp A Butterfly is back in the chart this week at #30.
#3: Mark Vincent ‘A Tribute To Mario Lanza’ – Sydney tenor Mark Vincent scores his fourth top ten entry on the ARIA Albums Chart with A Tribute To Mario Lanza. The album sees Vincent singing tracks made famous by singer/actor Mario Lanza. Vincent last hit the top ten with Songs From The Heart (#10 Oct. ’11).
#5: John Mayer ‘The Search For Everything’ – With his seventh studio album, singer-songwriter John Mayer picks up his sixth top ten entry on the ARIA Albums Chart. The Search For Everything is Mayer’s first studio release since Paradise Valley (#1 Sept. ’13) and features contributions from Sheryl Crow and Beach Boy Al Jardine, among others.
#13: Soundtrack ‘The Fate Of The Furious: The Album’ – The soundtrack to the eighth instalment in the Fast & Furious film franchise. The Fate Of The Furious: The Album includes tracks by Young Thug, 2 Chainz, Migos, Jeremih and Pitbull, as well as the G-Eazy & Kehlani track ‘Good Life’ (new at #31 on this week’s Singles Chart). Soundtracks from all of the series’ films have charted: The Fast And The Furious (#33 Oct. ‘01), 2 Fast 2 Furious (#26 Jun. ‘03), The Fast And The Furious: Tokyo Drift (#77 Jun. ‘06), Fast & Furious (#37 Apr. ‘09), Fast Five (#39 May ‘11), Fast & Furious 6 (#10 Jun. ‘13) and Furious 7 (#3 Apr. ‘15).
#19: Spit Syndicate ‘One Good Shirt Had Us All Fly’ – Hip hop duo Spit Syndicate grab their second entry in the ARIA top 50 with One Good Shirt Had Us All Fly. It’s the Sydney act’s fourth studio album, the follow-up to Sunday Gentlemen (#15 Mar. ’13). Between Spit Syndicate releases, the duo teamed up with Horrorshow, Jackie Onassis and Joyride for the One Day album Mainline (#2 Aug. ’14).
#49: Rhiannon Giddens ‘Freedom Highway’ – American folk artist Rhiannon Giddens makes her ARIA Charts debut with Freedom Highway. The album is Giddens’ second solo studio release. She’s also the lead singer, violinist, banjo player and a founding member of the Grammy-winning country, blues and old-time music band Carolina Chocolate Drops.

The three-piece’s collaboration with Zara Larsson is this week’s Number 1, denying Ed Sheeran a 15[SUP]th[/SUP] week at the top on the Official Singles Chart.Symphony is Clean Bandit’s third Number 1, their second in a row after Rockabye, which spent nine weeks at the top and scooped the 2016 Christmas Number 1. It’s Zara Larsson’s first UK chart-topper, her previous highest peak being Number 2, with I Would Like.
Clean Bandit tell OfficialCharts.com: “We are all amazed to hear that Symphony is Number 1! We’ve been in the US the last few weeks touring with Zara Larsson and we got the chance to tell her it was Number 1. She was so excited!
“After everything thing that happened with Rockabye, we didn’t think it would be possible to replicate that but now we’re Number 1 again!”

[h=4]New entries and high climbers[/h]There are two new entries in this week’s Top 10, the first climbing nine to 6 for Jason Derulo. Swalla, featuring Nicki Minaj and Ty Dolla $ign becomes Jason’s 12[SUP]th[/SUP] Top 10 hit, Nicki’s 11th and Ty’s 2[SUP]nd[/SUP]. Shawn Mendes also impacts the Top 10 at Number 7 – he climbs an epic 136 spots with There’s Nothing Holdin’ Me Back, claiming his third Top 10.

Within the Top 20, there are a few notable climbs, including The Cure by Lady Gaga, rising four to 19 and the 17[SUP]th[/SUP] Top 20 of Gaga’s career. Just behind her, Did You See from J Hus leaps 14 to Number 20.
Daddy Yankee scores his first Top 40 appearance in 12 years, since Gasolina back in 2005. His Luis Fonsi collab Despacito jumps from Number 70 to 22 thanks to a remix featuring Justin Bieber.

Rising 39 to 24 is viral video hit French Montana and Swae Lee’s Unforgettable, and Zayn and PARTYNEXTDOOR’s Still Got Time lifts nine to 27.
A further three songs make Top 40 debuts: Paramore’s Hard Times marks their 7[SUP]th[/SUP] Top 40 appearance at 34, Lana Del Rey’s Lust For Life featuring The Weeknd is at Number 38 and Cheat Codes make No Promises with Demi Lovato at 39.
