Music Head Wrote:Gene Pitney - Connecticut native died on this day in 2006 at the age of 66, of a heart attack
R&RHOF in 2002
biggest US hit at #2 in 1962 with this
Mr. Pitney was important in the biz--song writer including soundtracks, sound engineer...Did a great album with George Jones, an unlikely combo that won the prize as the best country duo that year. From '61-'70, he was rarely off the charts anywhere--he well survived the Brit Invasion, even recording with the Stones. His Wiki: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gene_Pitney
Some more tunes: One of the clips mentions some compilations--here's a more complete choice:

Lee Brilleaux â founder and frontman of British pub rock band, Dr Feelgood, died on this day in 1994. He was 41 and had lymphoma. Quite an intense individual by all accounts - he played his last gig just two weeks before his death. No soft edges on this lot ...

Not quite as simple as that--it wasn't the result of a pure accident, but a drunken stupor: http://www.music-discussion.com/showthread.php/19957-newish-film-about-the-early-The-Who
Died on this day ... - CRAZY-HORSE - 08-04-2015
that may be so, but i doubt a Coroner would write "died in a drunken stupor" on a death certificate would he???
