ALAN JACKSON "34 number ones" 2000
this listen of this double best of cd is the first time that Jackson's music has hit the spot with me...
theres thirty seven tracks on here, and from the album title you would assume there are thirty four number one hits on here...
well, i checked Wikki whilst checking this one out and all i can find is twenty six number ones...now im not trying to make twenty six number ones
seem bad, because its not, in fact its bloody good by anyones standard IMO...but to miss lead the purchaser is not very proffessional IMO...
regardless of that, this is a pretty good album..Jackson is a modern country singer who basically stays true to the origianl country sound....
im not sure i like this one enough to actually seek out some of his studio albums as it only rates a score of 2.0 from me,pretty average for a best of set...
theres only a handful of tracks i dont like on here, and also, only a handful i love, but it is an enjoyable listen.
its currently 37C/100F here, and im too hot and bothered to post links guys!

^^
I really like Alan
Him and George Strait have carried country music for years

CRAZY-HORSE Wrote:so i should give George another listen then?if you did and didn't like him, not much will change mate
he's pretty consistent as far as style
I just think those 2 artists have stayed closer to traditional country music and remained popular than any others
different strokes and all that

Interesting observation Music Man ! What do you think of Waylon? Also what if any females are keeping the country flame alive?

never a big Waylon fan for some reason
yes he had a few good songs
maybe the outlaw anti-Nashville image turned me off
same with Willie and Hank Jr.
current female traditional country artists?
a lot can do it if they want to, as can the guys
nobody wants to
difference with the girls is they are not that popular
there is no Loretta, Tammy, Dolly, Emmylou
I'll go with Sara Evans, Gretchen Wilson, Faith Hill, Lee Ann Womack
and of course CH woke me up to Kasey Chambers who hasn't even made a dent here

i am not really a fan of Waylon neither...
in fact i dont own a thing by him,but like you...like a few songs.
and its not the "outlaw" thing that i i dont like neither as i love Willie,Kris and Cash...
i agree with your comments on the female country singers 100%....
IMO Kasey Chambers is the best female country singer going around at the moment....!
